From the top of the hour, Miguel was seated next to entertainment guy and joined in the discussion. Everything from the new Apple cell phone/ipod to whether teachers can be fired for their extracurricular activities (In this case, a teacher was fired for applying paint to his butt and "painting" w/said butt. The teacher called it "art." Butt -- he was fired. By the way, none of this occurred in the classroom.) Miguel was hilarious through all of it. (He plays such a serious, no-nonsense character that I forget how funny he really is!) Very likable and engaging. If I didn't watch CJ, I would tune in just to see him!

He told one story about when he was 15 and had his first date w/James Coburn's 14-year-old daughter -- and how in awe he was 'cause Coburn was the ultimate cool guy -- lived at the top of the hill w/the big mansion and the Ferrari. (I guess Miguel must of lived in the slummier part of Beverly Hills!)

Told us that something like the new Apple thingamajig doesn't interest him because all he wants is a cell phone that works -- no text messaging, no music. But that he has 4 sons and every one of them are going to want the Apple thing at $500 a pop.

At the end of all this happy talk, the entertainment guy (a total Boob who has become a fixture in LA) turned to the subject of CJ -- asked Miguel if he agreed w/the description "quiet hit" to describe CJ. Miguel seemed a bit taken aback but shrugged his shoulders and said "sure" -- that many phrases have been used to describe CJ i.e. "workhorse," "it's over."

The Boob brought up about how CJ is different than other procedural crime shows -- Miguel elaborated that from the very beginning CJ was different from the rest of the procedurals because CJ had a greater focus on the lives of the characters and story arcs for the characters. Then TPTB stepped in and said "Too much character stuff, we want more procedural stand alones." Then, when character stuff starting creeping into other procedural crime shows, TPTB changed their tune and suggested that CJ add more character stories. He made the point that CJ has tried it both ways -- implying that the character stuff is what works well for CJ.

Of course, he said all the "happy" stuff such as how it's been so great, he can't believe it's 6 years; the actors are all so terrific and wonderful to work with; the writing is still good; they all get along so well. Mentioned how JOC came on as a guest and was only supposed to do one episode but fit in so well, he stayed for years.

Showed a clip from Retribution -- one I hadn't seen anywhere else. Macy and Jordan discussing the case against Jordan -- the judge, the drugging, Jordan's missteps. You hair aficionados will want to know that JH's hair looked very blonde-highlighted -- like she had time to stop by the local hair salon while in DC.

Miguel also said there's a lot of "silliness" on the set. The Boob suggested doing funny things w/the corpses and Miguel added "far worse." In fact, he told us that Jill wrote new words to the song "I Want To Hold Your Hand," incorporating the phrase "trouser trout." I wonder if that little ditty will be on her next album? (LOL I'm sure JH is thrilled that Miguel revealed that tidbit to the audience rather then something like what a great mother she is!)

All in all, Miguel was on for at least 20 minutes and it was a fun segment. Good, positive exposure for CJ.
