Episode 26
The Truth is Out There (10-07-02)

Brief Synopsis: Jordan and Nigel take a trip to the store only to pronounce the store greeter dead of a heart attack, Then a phony lawyer tries to kidnap the body.

Don’t let the hardship of the past rob the joy of the present.  Those are words to live by.  The whole episode is about that theme.  The past can’t rule the present or your future.  It applies to Jordan and Max.  It applied to the son and his father.  It applies to Garret.  The theme pulls through to everyone in this episode.

Jordan: Well Jordan was back to her old self—back to saying to hell with the rules and doing things her way.  It’s nice to see her and Nigel working together.  I think she has the best (or maybe easiest is a better word) relationship with Nigel.  He helps her out and he cares.  He tries to steer her in the right direction and keep her on the right track.  He’s always looking out for her.

Jordan and Max: Don’t let the hardship of the past rob you of the present.  Jordan and Max need to take that and run with it.  They need to put Emily and everything else that’s revolved around her and put it behind them.  They are so caught up on (Jordan) discovering the past and (Max) on keeping his secrets hidden that their relationship has just gotten more and more strained.  It’s sad to see them at odds. They love each other so much and they’re so much a like in some ways.  I hope they get some resolution and work things out.

Garret:  Garret is human.  Nice to see that.  Not much seems to get to him but this time, this case, it did.  I’m glad Garret took responsibility for the case and the choices he made (or didn’t make).  That’s what makes Garret such a good boss.  He sets examples that the others can follow.  He gives them a reason to have faith in him.

I was glad he stood up to Elaine and told her how things would work around the morgue while he was in change and that he WAS in charge—not her.  Hopefully she backs off or whoever is the driving force behind her appointment to the job learns to back off.

Elaine: She’s starting to show her colors.  She asserts her power.  Jordan doesn’t like it at all.  And good old Jordan speaks up about it too.  Personally I think Jordan is right.  Unless Garret gives Elaine the responsibilities she has no right assuming them.  Of course Jordan doesn’t listen to Garret, so Hell will freeze over before she listens to Elaine.  She is trying to at least get along with her to some degree.

The guilty party’s here actually got away.  No justice was brought to them.  I actually didn’t mind it.  In life justice isn’t always served.  And the story didn’t need justice.  It wasn’t the focus of the story.  What was important was getting Jordan back on good terms with her father and getting her back to her passionate self.

By the way what’s happened to Maggie?  You think she’s gone?  Maybe that’s what’s caused this return of the ‘depressed’ Garret.  Maybe things fell apart (one can only hope).  He was much happier at the end of the season.  I don’t like Garret constantly moody.

4 out of 5 Dead Bodies.
