Episode 21
Someone to Count On (04-29-02)

Brief Synopsis: Jordan seeks a medical examiner's assistance to establish the innocence of a 14-year-old murder suspect.

Jordan: I like Jordan in this role.  She’s the medical examiner with a heart—that’s Jordan and that’s how she should be portrayed.

I’m very confuses.  The ADA was back.  I’m still getting over being mad at Jordan for doing such an idiotic thing in the first place.  This episode reinforced my first opinion that when Jordan went back to tell him about herself she didn’t sleep with him. (she gets a few brownie points for that).  Anyway she ends the episode before last telling him about herself and we were kind of left to wonder if maybe they’d build something more off of a ‘new’ start.  Then in this episode she can’t stand the sight of him and tries to thwart his attempt to pin the murder on Kesha.  Obviously nothing good happened after Jordan opened herself up and talked with him.  I’m glad she’s not hooking up with him (I personally don’t like him).  Though the ending scene there was definitely some flirting going on and Jordan didn’t outright tell him to take a hike.  So I’ve no idea what’s going to happen between those two.  Then again maybe her comment to Woody about him means she really does have no intention of hooking up with him.

Woody!  Oh do let him and Jordan have more interaction.  They really have a chemistry.  It’s not even a romantic one—though there is some of that chemistry too.  They just work well together.  He doesn’t hinder Jordan, he keeps her in on the going ons and it makes for a great working relationship and it’s a joy to watch.

That said I’m also rooting for Jordan to fall for Woody—I’m convinced he’s already smitten with her.  Especially after this episode.

Woody: The more I see him the more I like him.  He’s got a likable personality.  And he’s just the type guy Jordan needs to open herself up too.  He’s sweet good and trustable!

I liked his comment at the end to Jordan that he was complicated too.  Obviously he has an idea of what he’s getting himself into with Jordan.  I hope he has staying power and is persistent, because he’s going to need it if he’s going to deal with Jordan.

Garret: Well Garret’s case proved that (once again) he’ll do the right thing.  Garret is very big on setting a good example and doing what’s right.  He doesn’t lie well and he puts ethics before friendships.  I have to admire his stand.  He tries to be compassionate and he gives the person every chance possible to right their own wrong, but in the end he doesn’t do what other’s want if it’s wrong.  He makes a good boss.

I thought he dealt well and as delicately as possible with Leo Gelber a former ME.  There’s one thing you can’t accuse Garret of and that’s playing favorites.  Though Jordan gets away with a lot she only gets away with it if she’s right and Garret’s come down on her a few times.  Jordan’s so gun-ho for justice though that she sees things in an even more black and white.  So in a way she is like Garret in that she does what’s right as well.

Lily:  I think Lily went blonde.  What happened to the thoughtful, supportive, confidence in herself, lady we saw for most of the season?  She was ditzy and whinny and kind of pathetic.  She just came across as helpless and a complainer.  She (or the writers) really needs to get over this whole guy hang up and focus on other things.  She’s starting to drive me nuts (again).

Good case.  It kept you guessing throughout most of the show and it went back to using the morgue/autopsies to move the story line along.  That’s where the show shines.

3 1/2 out of 5 Dead Bodies.
