Episode 7
Sight Unseen (11-12-01)
Brief Synopsis: The death of a boy launches Jordan on a search for a kidnapped girl; Trey and Bug try to impress a sexy anthropologist with their wits.
What was up with the fruit? Lily and the strawberries. (the subtlety of the strawberries being an aphrodisiac?) Offering them to Garret and her eating them and
her feeding them to Nigel… Jordan holding a banana as she asks Garret if he’s got any recently? Did anyone notice that? Honestly my mind is not in a bad place… So moving on!
Jordan: Jordan cares. That’s been proven multiple times in the first seven episodes and I have to say it’s an endearing trait. Oh it causes her to be a little too driven (at times she blatantly breaks rules) but we can empathize with Jordan. That gives us a reason to like her…to root for her.
I like her comment about it being nice to actually save someone. For once it wasn’t a dead body she was trying to get some justice for. She was fighting to save a little girl’s life. I enjoyed the passion she showed.
Garret and Lily: Ugh! The annoying Lily was back. I could handle her a little better this time, but overall she was still ANNOYING. I wish Garret would have just said no and not changed his mind. Then maybe she would have gotten over him and lost the puppy-love eyes. Since it seems they are going on a date, I can only hope now that they decide it won’t work or that there’s nothing there. Or Garret can change his mind again and tell Lily it’s just not proper—he is her boss after all. Oh well.
The shrink was a little crazy, but I kind of liked him. Here he seems a little wacky and yet he’s giving advice to others and getting to the heart of their problems.
Bug and Trey: So who’s gonna win the girl over? If you answered neither you are correct. It was amusing watching the two trip over each other, each trying to out do the other with their knowledge.
Side note: Those hair lockets Bug held up, we way too shinny. Something buried that long would have been dirty and tarnished. Things like that bug me.
Nigel: To quote Nigel, “All’s fair in love and war.” You have to love it. I should have seen it coming. Nigel swooping in and sweeping the girl off her feet. (this after Bug and Trey had been trying to win the girls attention). He just waltzes on in and provides the solution to the mystery and in the process gets the attention of the lady, something both Bug and Trey have been working at, but hadn’t succeeded.
A side note: Trey seems out of place with the group. I like him and his personality, but he doesn’t seem to gel with the rest of our wacky staff. He gets along with them, but I watch and he seems out of place. Maybe things will change, but the feelings been growing now for the past few episodes.
Max: It was wonderful to see Max really involved in a case and interacting with Jordan. Jordan must have been a handful growing up. Even now Max scolds her and she only reluctantly listens to him. Yet when the FBI agent comes in and starts yelling at Jordan, Max steps right in and defends his daughter.
Do you think we’ve seen the last of Evelyn? I won’t be crushed if we have. I don’t like her. She’s controlling in a nice way. She’s changed Max’s life so it fits with how she thinks he should be living it. Maybe that doesn’t bother people, but I’m all for making my own choices and decisions. Hell would freeze over before someone came in and started changing my diet, and activities and such. Anyway I’m all for Max having a lady in his life, just not Evelyn.
Of course that said, Jordan was a little too gun-ho on getting Evelyn all worked up. It’s obvious she isn’t too fond of Evelyn. Jordan sees her as a threat (maybe not quite that severe but close enough). Evelyn is changing the dynamic she’s always known with her father. Plus to top it off she has to share her father now. She’s never before had too. It’s always been her and Max—like old times (as she says). She definitely was a bit possessive of her father.
4 out of 5 Dead Bodies.
