She’s a sophisticated medical examiner brought in by the DA’s department.  She’s a politically active physician whom Jordon disliked immensely.  She had a son who died when he was still a child (age 7).  She’s very closed mouth and personal and doesn’t gel particularly well with the rest of the morgue staff.

Elaine is divorced.

Elaine later died from a food poisoning (ecoli) outbreak at the morgue (season 2—episode: Perfect Storm).

Elaine was played by the actress Lorraine Toussaint.
