Episode 30
Scared Straight (11-18-02)
Brief Synopsis: Jordan gets in
the hot seat as her sexual orientation becomes a topic as she and Woody
investigate the death of a radio-talk-show host's lover.
Theme: Judgment
Jordan: First off—nice to see
Jordan taking some teasing. Normally she does all the teasing. If you can dish
it out. You have to be able to take it.
It was interesting how the opened up a
chance for Jordan to talk about her constant ‘pulling away’ from love
situations. Jordan is able to open up with Lisa (something she hasn’t done with
anyone else) She wasn’t to know why she always runs from love. Lisa helps her
realize that the lost of a love one can affect a person (separation anxiety) and
so they run when the possibility presents itself. Jordan will fall in love one
of these days and I’m betting on it being Woody. Call me a romantic but those
two are suited and Woody’s hasn’t gone running yet and he knows what he’s
getting himself into with Jordan.
Oh the scene between Max and Jordan was
priceless. It had to be rough on Max raising a daughter with no help. Max just
doesn’t know how to deal with the rumors of Jordan being gay. And when Jordan
goes at him about buying her boys underwear (Max’s answer was priceless—a total
guy answer—that they were cheaper and lasted longer—now we know why Jordan is so
screwed up). Max falls for it. He’s such a sweet heart. He did his best and
Jordan was a handful and then some.
Woody: It’s interesting Woody’s
reaction to Lisa and to Jordan once he’s seen the picture. Woody is a clean
cut, play by the rules guy. I got the sense that he had a hard time dealing
with Lisa and the fact that she was gay. And the picture in the newspaper of
Jordan really had him out of whack (oh it had everyone making comments—but
Woody’s weren’t jokes.)
Garret and Lily: There’s still a
mess of unresolved feelings between Garret and Lily. The writers keep throwing
them together. I don’t know what to expect. Either clear the air and let them
be colleagues or put them back together and let them live happily ever after.
Personally I don’t want to see them together. I’d like to see Lily step back
and work with someone else on a few cases.
Garret did have one good point. He told
Lily to have patience and belief in herself. She does with everyone else, so
take the same stance with herself. Everyone deserves second chances and
everyone makes character judgment mistakes. Usually they’re worst than hers
cause people are being too judgmental with Lily she’s got too much faith
sometimes. Personally I rather have too much faith.
Elaine: I knew there was more to
Elaine. Apparently she had a son. I wonder what happened to him. She is
divorce, so the father could have him however I think it was something more
traumatic. I stand by my earlier statement that Elaine isn’t as bad as she was
made out to be.
There wasn’t much with Bug and Nigel,
but they made their appearances, teased Jordan and then disappeared. Nigel did
his typical help Jordan with evidence routine. It’s funny how much I’ve come to
expect certain actions from certain characters. It’s just comfortable and nice
and gives you a sense of ‘knowing’. We feel like we know these people and can
relate to them, know who they will act. We become their friends.
I have to quote Emmy: ‘To love is to see
without judgment.’ Remember that. That was a major theme tonight—judgment.
People judge people all the time and their impressions aren’t always right. We
do have some narrow minded views.
Side Note: I’m getting attached to Dr.
Stiles. His quirky way is endearing in some odd way (don’t ask me to explain).
