Teaser:
Morgue: Garret is
stalking through the
corridors with a
grim look on his
face. He goes
through a door and
runs into Lily. He’s
looking for Jordan.
She’s late (has been
the past 2 weeks)
Jordan’s Apartment:
Kayla walks out of
bathroom in short
dress and tight tank
top. Jordan says
she’s not wearing
it. Kayla argues.
Jordan shoves some
clothes at her and
tells her to go
change.
At a house: Lu is
interviewing a
distraught parent.
His
daughter—Sarah—is
missing. He found
his daughter’s room
full of blood, but
her body wasn’t
there. Bug comes in
to do his stuff.
Blood type is O
positive found in
the girl’s room, the
same as her father.
Husband says she’s
dead isn’t she? Lu
asks if there’s
anyone who’d hurt
her. The father says
only person he knows
is maybe Nate – a
schizophrenic, who
lives in the Halfway
House next to them.
Woody and Lu talk to
man in charge of
Halfway House. Woody
says need to talk to
Nate. Guy shows them
to his room. They go
in and find Sarah,
mutilated and dead.
Act One:
At Halfway House:
Bug is examining the
body. 8 stab wounds.
Lu tells Bug to run
everything he finds
and do a rape kit.
Woody is talking
with man in charge.
He’s says Nate
mostly kept to self,
wasn’t violent. Lu
finds Nate’s Med.
Apparently stop
taking. They hear a
shot. The go rushing
outside. Nate is
cowering in the
corner of another
neighbor’s house.
The Neighbor just
shot at him—to scare
him.
Lu approaches Nate.
She’s very calm. She
tried to calm him
down. She tells him
to raise his hands.
She’s trying to get
him to trust her.
Nate is disoriented
and afraid. A police
officer comes up
from behind Nate and
Garbs him. Nate
struggles, Lu comes
in to help control
him, all the while
trying to talk
calmly to him.
Morgue: Jordan
enters and runs into
Lily. Lily warns her
that Garret is on a
war path and looking
for her. Jordan’s
cell phone rings.
She answers it and
she says she’s
heading out to Lily.
Jordan goes to
social services.
Social Worker has
found a family for
Kayla—the Hoovers.
The Hoover’s have
raised 17 foster
children, the family
is in their 60’s.
Jordan isn’t
pleased. The
Hoover’s are already
raising seven foster
children. Jordan
wants to know how
they can give her
the attention she
needs. Social
workers says
‘unless’ you want to
keep her…that’s the
best she can do.
Morgue: Jordan
enters. Garret is
grumpy. Want to know
why she’s trying to
be a mother. Garret
compares the
differences between
her and him. Jordan
says she’s thinking
of becoming a foster
parent, the social
worker asked her to
be one. Garret says:
“you said no right”.
Jordan questions his
tone… She wants to
know what he means
by that. It’s
obvious Garret
doesn’t think Jordan
is suited to be a
mother.
Crypt: Bug and Nigel
enter. They have
Sarah’s body. Lily
comes in and says
Jordan’s looking for
Nigel. Lily tells
them the news that
Jordan wants to be a
foster parent. Nigel
and Bug and Lily
joke about Jordan
being a mother. The
joke about Jordan’s
cooking skills and
wonders how the kid
isn’t starving.
Jordan walks in on
them. She tells
them: “the kid eats
fine”. But she’s
willing to take
advice from them.
Since they’ve raised
kids… They all get
somber looks on
their faces.
Precinct: Lu and
Woody waiting for
Nate’s Doctor to
show up. Woody wants
to interrogate him
now. Lu says they
have to do it by the
book. The Halfway
House man (who’s
name I didn’t catch
sorry) shows up.
They go in to talk
to Nate. Nate says
“She couldn’t
breath” Woody blows
up at him. His
caretaker wants them
to put Nate in
facility—he has one
all set up. Woody
makes mean comments
how he should go
spend his time in a
cell. Lu yells at
Woody. Lu tells
Nate’s caretaker
that his solution is
fine.
Jordan has Kayla at
the foster center.
She’s dropping Kayla
off with the
Hoover’s. Kayla
doesn’t want her to
let her go with
them. The Hoover’s
come in and Jordan
has to leave. She
watches through the
window. Kayla
doesn’t want to be
there, she’s crying.
Jordan has a sad
look on her face.
She walks back up to
the door. Enters.
She says she changed
her mind. She wants
Kayla back. Wants to
know what she has to
do to become a
foster parent.
Act Two:
Social Service lady
going over
everything that
Jordan has to do to
get qualified. She
gives her a ton of
forms to fill out.
Jordan gets an
overwhelmed looked
on her face, then
straightens her back
and says no problem
she’ll get
everything done.
Morgue: Garret is
telling Jordan he
thinks this is a bad
idea. He says she
doesn’t know the
first thing about
raising a kid. They
argue. Garret tells
her she has no idea
what she’s getting
into. He says she’s
not temperamentally
suited to be a
mother. Jordan
responds by saying
after all the crap
he put her through
this year…she was
always there for
him…she would have
at least expected
the same from him.
Lab: Bug and Lu
talking. Nigel
enters. They’ve got
DNA from the saliva
on Sarah’s cheek.
They’re still trying
to extract DNA from
the blood mixed
semen. Lu says
she’ll go get
warrant for Nate’s
DNA so they can
compare it.
Precinct: Woody
meets up with Lu, he
apologizes for his
behavior earlier.
Jordan enters. She
needs to talk to
Woody. She needs him
to write her a
letter of
recommendation to
become a foster
parent. Woody says
he’s not the best
choice. “You too?”
Jordan says. She
wants to know why
everyone is against
her. Woody explains
it’s not that…it’s
just he has a few
black marks…so he
might not be the
best person.
Jordan’s phone
rings. There’s going
to be a home visit.
TODAY.
Lu at treatment
center. Lu enters.
She tries to talk to
Nate. She explains
she needs to take a
DNA sample. He says
no and tells her to
go away. Woody gets
mean tells him he
has to do it. Lu
doesn’t approve.
Nate lets Lu get a
sample.
Jordan in lab. Lily
enters. She wants to
know if Jordan is
really applying to
be a foster parent.
Lily just wants to
make sure she’s
thought it through.
Jordan says she has
doubts but she’s
thought it through.
She knows she can do
this. Lily backs
down and says “you
understand her”.
Lily tells Jordan
Kayla is lucky to
have her.
Jordan’s Apartment:
Social Worker going
through her
apartment. Social
Worker explains she
has a interview with
Garret. She tells
Jordan that things
are looking okay,
but the biggest
problem is Jordan’s
job.
Morgue: Lily,
explains to Nigel
and Bug what Jordan
is doing. Nigel and
Bug think it’s a bad
idea.
Woody and Lu enter.
Want to know if they
found a match
against DNA. Bug
says it’s a match.
Nate kissed Sarah’s
cheek after she was
dead.
TV on a News channel
as hospital. The
neighbors want
Liberty House shut
down. Woody and Lu
enter Nate’s room
and he’s not there.
Act Three:
At Liberty House. Lu
and Woody looking
for Nate. He’s not
there. The neighbors
start yelling at
Woody. They threaten
Woody. The Neighbor
who shot at Nate
makes a threatening
remark about
destroying house or
hurting Nate.
Morgue Conference
Room: Social Worker
is talking with
Garret, interviewing
him. He’s being
evasive. She wants
to know why. She
directly asks him if
Jordan will be a
good mother.
Bug and Nigel enter.
They say Jordan
would move heaven
and earth for the
Girl. Social Worker
says her concern is
for Kayla—not about
Jordan.
Nigel in morgue with
Lu and Woody. The
DNA semen doesn’t
match Nate’s. He
didn’t kill her.
Lu’s phone rings.
She and Woody rush
out. They’re at the
Halfway house. They
find Nate. He’s
beaten to a pulp.
The neighbors are
all there. Woody
says Nate didn’t
kill her. It was a
neighbor that
probably killed her.
One neighbor (the
one that shot at
Nate) flips out goes
at Woody. He gets
mad and throws a
cigarette butt at
Woody. Woody
collects it to test
for DNA.
Jordan’s Apartment:
Jordan enters. Kayla
is cleaning. Jordan
tells her she
doesn’t have to do
that. Kayla says she
used to do it all
the time for her
dad—clean. She
starts to talk about
her dad. She says
they did ok. He was
a good dad and she
misses him. She
starts to cry. Knock
on door—it’s the
Social Worker. She
wants to talk to
Jordan outside. Next
shot is a somber
look on Jordan’s
face and she’s
telling the Social
Worker she’ll tell
Kayla.
Inside Jordan’s
Apartment again:
Jordan tells Kayla
her mom isn’t dead.
She was dealing with
some personal issues
but is better now.
She wants Kayla to
go live with her.
Kayla’s mom is
coming to Boston.
Jordan is calm. She
says lets get to
know her and see
where they are.
Kayla begs her to
let her stay with
her. She’s crying
and Jordan is
fighting back the
tears.
Act Four:
At hospital. Nigel
is taking samples
from Nate. Woody is
there. He asks why
Nate ran. Nate says
he couldn’t stand
hospitals. Lu wants
to know what happen.
He says Sarah was
good girl. He says
Sarah and dad were
only two who would
talk to him.
Nate says he was
trying to help
Sarah. But she was
dead and he kissed
her.
At Social Worker
place. Jordan meets
Kayla’s mother. She
wants to know where
Kayla’s mother was
the past thirteen
years. The mother
explains. She
explains how she was
an addict and how
she’s been in
recovery and is
clean now. She says
that she’s been
looking for Kayla.
Jordan says Kayla
doesn’t want to see
her.
Morgue: Jordan is
arguing with Garret.
She doesn’t want to
hand Kayla over.
Garret tries to
reason with Jordan
about the value of
Kayla going with
mother. Jordan says:
“I’m not a quitter.”
Garret tells Jordan
she isn’t a quitter,
and that this is
about letting go.
Jordan’s apartment.
She says Kayla is
lucky. She’s getting
a second chance.
Kayla isn’t happy.
She gets a little
defensive. Kayla
says Jordan doesn’t
want her. Jordan
says NO—that isn’t
true. Jordan says
mom’s moving back
her so she can stay
in same school,
friends, and she
hopes to remain a
part of her life.
That she (Jordan) is
NOT giving up on her
and is not relieve.
She wants to be with
Kayla, but can’t be.
Act Five:
Morgue Lab: Woody is
talking with Lu. He
says he admits he
was wrong. They
banter.
Nigel has news. They
have DNA from under
Nate’s skin. Doesn’t
match smoking man
neighbor. So he
didn’t beat up Nate.
However Nigel went
further and tested
the DNA from the
neighbor against the
semen. Sarah’s
killer close
relative of smoking
neighbor. Woody and
Lu arrest guys son.
At Precinct: They
interrogate him, he
asks for Lawyer.
Sarah’s dad is
there. He comes in
and gives the boy
such a sad and
hurting look.
Lu at hospital. She
tries to tell Nate
that just cause his
life is different
it’s not awful.
Woody comes in.
Brought Nate his
guitar. Woody
apologizes for being
a jerk. Nate says he
can’t play, the
music comes when
he’s not drugged. Lu
touches his heart
and tells him the
music is there.
At the Social Work
Center. Jordan says
goodbye to Kayla.
She goes to meet her
mother. Jordan
leaves. She’s
tearing up. Kayla is
talking with her
mother. She’s
crying. Sad moment.
Jordan is at home
standing in her
empty apartment.
There’s a knock on
her door. She opens
door. Woody is
there. He brought
her the character
reference letter she
needed. Jordan says
she doesn’t need it
anymore. Woody says
he heard. He tells
her to read it
anyway.
She reads it and
Jordan says thanks,
she needed that.
Woody says she’ll
make a great Mom
when ever it’s meant
to be. Jordan says
let me take you out
to dinner. Woody
makes face…he has
plans, but he can
cancel. Jordan says
don’t it’s okay. She
should probably stay
here and process
things anyway.
