Episode 33
Ockham's Razor (01-06-03)
Brief Synopsis: Garret is put to
the test when he becomes the prime suspect in a homicide forcing the victims
husband a forensics expert to question Garret's work on the autopsy.
The simplest answer is often the right one: Ockham’s Razor
Jordan: Oh boy! Yeah I said
‘boy’. Looks like Jordan has a big brother—a half brother. That makes me
wonder—did Emily have an affair was she taken advantage of? Obviously Emily was
mentally sick when she had James. I’m beginning to think that Emily has always
had problems. That begs the question why didn’t her parents do something about
it. Did they ignore it or just assume it was normal behavior for the daughter
of rich parents. So who was the dad? (And now I really want to know what was
in that car Jordan got the key to. Dead bodies and incriminating evidence pops
into the mind. I hope the writers have fun with all the possibilities they’ve
created.)
In some ways I feel sorry for James (and
Jordan). They were both lied to by their parents—people they should have been
able to trust. Max has kept the secret from Jordan her entire life and James
was led to believe others were his parents.
I love this new twist on Emily and her
death. Let’s thrown in another twist (just when we think we might be getting an
answer).
Poor Jordan. She’s had more secrets
kept from her, it’s no wonder she’s a little messed up and distrustful. She has
one more thing to obsess over now. I wonder how Jordan will take to James—or
the idea of James—once she fully processes everything that happened. It’s got
to be a huge shock to learn you have a brother. I hope we see more of James.
(Side note: I loved him on Pretender, so I couldn’t help but like him here. He
didn't seem mean to me...more like a lost boy looking for answers that have been
kept from him.)
Jordan’s a lucky girl when it comes to
Nigel. He’ll do almost anything for her, even when she won’t tell him why. He
helps her out in this case—again. She won’t tell him what everything is for and
he still helps. That’s a true friend. He knows he’ll eventually get answers
when Jordan is good and ready—or when she had to tell him (the latter usually
being the case.)
Garret: The right answer is the
simplest answer. Hawthorne on first glance was guilty. All the evidence
pointed towards him. Garret however tries to be fair and not judge him guilty.
He listens to his story and is almost fooled because he lets he compassion for
people get in the way.
Garret tries to understand the story—the
‘why’ (compassionate) Hawthorne just looks at the facts (ruthless). This is
what Hawthorne tells Garret about halfway through. I think that was the big
clue (and a very true statement that describes Garret). Garret realizes he’s
being manipulated and that sometimes it’s okay to believe the worst of
someone—cause they truly are that bad. Hawthorne tried to bury Garret in
evidence and Garret eventually realizes exactly what Hawthorne’s trying to do. I thought
Garret did a wonderful job with the case.
Woody: It’s nice to see Woody
working with the other members of the morgue. He worked well with Garret. I
saw traits of Jordan coming off of Garret. I was laughing when Woody made the
comment of Garret going all ‘Jordan’ on him.
Woody shows some strong emotions here.
This is a big case and his ass is on the line. He stands up to Garret when
Garret starts to question him. Woody is proving he’s not a pushover (despite
what he puts up with Jordan). I thought it was a strong outing for Woody. He
takes his job seriously.
5 out of 5 Dead Bodies. Strong episode,
new twist on Jordan’s mother.
