Episode 53
Most Likely (04-18-04)

Brief Synopsis: Jordan and Devan investigate the death of a student who died after being struck by an officer during a drug bust.

Jordan and Devan: I don’t like Detective Cruise, but I love his character.  We always need those characters we love to hate.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again (sorry for repeating myself) Cruise needs a major attitude adjustment.  Jordan drives him nuts.  And now to add to his grief is Devan who did her own bit of button pushing.  She didn’t listen to anything he ‘ordered’ her to do (or actually ‘not’ do—just like Jordan.)

I can see this attitude causing Devan a bit of trouble down the line.  Luckily Garret’s had practice—lots of practice—with Jordan.  So Devan might get away with a little more than normal.  Jordan and Devan should be thanking their lucky stars that Garret’s their boss.

Devan and Jordan are two VERY different people.  Devan was the cheerleader/jock, popular girl type, while Jordan was the outcast, hate the popular kids, most likely to do 5 to 10 years (i.e. cause trouble) type.  As the two of them admit, they would have hated each other in high school.  They don’t have that easy relationship that Jordan has with her other co-workers.  Yes they’ve really only just met, but I see them growing more apart than together.  I think they’re going to start butting heads sooner or later.  They’re so different, but the one thing they seem to have in common is they’re both hardheaded.  Can’t you just see the fireworks…

That said both Jordan and Devan worked well (if unintentionally) together on this case.  While Devan hits up the kids she relates too, Jordan does the same and hits up the kids she relates (or at least related) with.

The mystery relating to this kids death was interesting.  There were multiple causes, which ultimately added to the kids death, but in the end the principal was the catalyst of it all.

Woody-Bug-Lily:  I hoped Woody learned a lesson in this episode!  It pays to bring people with you! As much as he didn’t want Lily and Bug tagging along with him, they helped saved him in the end.  I liked this story.  It was witty and amusing and cleverly misleading.

Bug and Lily’s enjoyment in the home baked goods was fun.  And though Woody resists, he too gets suckered into trying them (the muffins, cookies and whatever else she fed them) and enjoying them.  Hey! There’s gotta be some perks on the job right?  Yeah sure!  I doubt those three will be accepting anything baked, cooked or brewed from anyone for awhile.

I was suckered into believing the little old lady.  I admit it.  It wasn’t until we found the frozen body that everything clicked.  I have to say she was a smart lady.  It’s a good way to cheat the government out of some money…the lesson though:  Don’t get caught.

3 ½ out of 5 Dead Bodies. Good stories.
