Brief Synopsis: Bill Avery drops by the medical
examiner's office and asks Jordan former help in investigating a murder that
took place in 1964. Jordan is given some information that indicates Jackson
Avery was shot in the back with bullets that contained birdshot.
Jordan and Nigel: The case was far from original but
there were some good Jordan moments. Plus Nigel was the perfect person to have
along with Jordan. He’s wacky enough to go along with things, sane enough to
keep Jordan in check. (Side Note: After 4 season of seeing the staff work
together my favorite pairing has to be Jordan and Nigel (none romantic
pairing—just to clarify). They have this chemistry that is wonderful and
amusing and uniquely theirs.)
Jordan’s nature is to do what’s right. You could see how
badly she wanted to go to the authorities, but she respects Bill Avery’s wish.
Nigel’s comment at the end summed up everything nicely: “Well I have to tell you
Jordan I’m really proud and um…quite amazed by you. (Jordan gives him a look)
Never in a million years would I think you capable of exceeding to someone
else’s wish especially when they were counter to your own.”
Then Nigel goes on to ask if she’s ever done that before.
I think we can safely say no. And somehow I don’t think she’ll be doing it
again anytime soon. In the end Jordan lets the case go but not before she
explodes at Olin and gets him to go apologize to the Avery’s. I liked that
solution. That’s the strong fierce Jordan we’re so used to. She gets justice
some way or another.
Sydney, Garret and Woody: This case was a little
weird. What was more surprising was Sydney’s attitude. I think Sydney should be
thanking Jordan about now. I swear if Garret hadn’t had to deal with Jordan
these past years Sydney would be out of a job about now. Lucky Garret has a
high tolerance level when it comes to insubordination—thanks to Jordan.
Sydney was way out of line and he didn’t have the charming
personality that Jordan has (which allows her to get away with so much).
Sydney’s going to need to work a little harder on impressing me, cause at the
moment I really haven’t taken to him too much. I really think he was way out of
line and rude to Garret.
Woody pretty much stayed out of the middle on this one. He
gets a little mad when he thinks he had a case and finds Sydney’s gone and
stabbed him in the back so to speak, but her remains even-keeled for the most
part.
Lily: I kind of agreed with Lily’s decision to let the
friends take the body. If you have someone who cares so much and there’s no one
else why not? But rules are rules and they’re made for a reason so she better
not get into the habit of breaking them (though it seems everyone—asides from
Garret—breaks rules on this staff—always for the great good. Of course!)
2 1/2 out of 5 Dead Bodies. Two fairly predictable and
slightly boring cases, but Jordan had some good moments.
