Play by Play Synopsis:

Teaser:  Jordan and Ivers are in autopsy and Ivers is asking Jordan a series of yes or no questions about the body involved in her case.  Jordan humors him for the first few questions, answering no to all of them.  Then Jordan turns and starts asking Ivers questions just to be a pain.  In the mean time Nigel and Bug have entered the room and are witnessing this discussion.  Ivers tells Jordan that unless she can answer "yes" to at least one of these questions she is not to do an autopsy.  Jordan then tells him that he is not in charge and that he has no medical expertise.  Ivers agrees, but then tells her that he has been sent there to baby-sit them all and train them that their recourses are limited.  Garret walks in and Jordan and Ivers stop their discussion.  Ivers tells him that every day someone asks to violate the criteria he has put together regarding autopsies, but Jordan explains to Garret the situation about her case and why she thinks an autopsy is warranted, but Garret tells her she is not to do the autopsy. Garret leaves and Ivers tries to talk to Jordan, but Jordan leaves and goes after Garret.  In the hallway she asks Garret who is in charge.  Garret defends that her case just might not need an autopsy.  Jordan argues that it could be a bunch of things that caused Mr. Gonzales' death and it is their job to find out what happened.  Garret then tells Jordan he can not discuss this now because he has a meeting with Ivers and the Attorney General.  Jordan then shows some concern and asks him if they are going after him.  He tells Jordan he can handle it, but Jordan still wants to know what she should do about Diego Gonzales.  A woman overhears Jordan say her husbands name and asks about Diego.  She tells Jordan that he has never been sick before but just woke up this morning with the flu.  She wants to know how Diego could have died so fast.  Lily then comes to see what is going on and Jordan introduces her to Senora Gonzales.  Lily takes her hand and leads her into Jordan's office to visit with her.

Jordan is now in autopsy is going to proceed with the autopsy on Diego Gonzales.  Nigel comes in and sees what she is doing and tells her she is going to get them all fired.  She tells him that Ivers has already brought in the Attorney General, so if they force Garret out they are all gone anyway.  She then tells Nigel that Mr. Gonzales got sick this morning and that there is no way the flu could kill that fast.  She has the scalpel and is ready to cut, but before cutting she asks Nigel if he has an aspirin.  Nigel asks if she has a headache and Jordan says yes, and that his name is Ivers.  Woody then enters the room ready to pick up Jordan to go to a hockey game.  He assumes she is not going now because she is just ready to start an autopsy, but she tells him to give her a half an hour and she will be done.  Jordan then goes ahead and cuts open the chest of Mr. Gonzales and a yellow liquid sprays out and pours on the floor.  Jordan yells at Woody to put on a mask.  Nigel grabs a mask for both Woody and himself.  Woody asks Jordan what is wrong with him, but Jordan has no idea.

Act one: The autopsy room that Mr. Gonzales was in is now under quarantine and Jordan has just completed the autopsy and leaves the room.  Woody and Nigel ask what he died from, and it was just a pulmonary edema...he basically just drown in all the plasma around the lungs.  They can not understand how this could have happened so fast.  Nigel says it is not possible and that there is something the wife is not telling them.  Nigel goes to get the contact information for Mrs. Gonzales and Woody and Jordan talk about coping with situations like this.  Nigel finds out that there is no phone number for Mrs. Gonzales, but they do have her address.  Jordan tells Woody that she is not going to be able to make the hockey game, but tells Woody to go ahead with out her.  Woody decides not to go to the game and to go with Jordan to Mrs. Gonzales' house to try to find some answers.

Garret is with Ivers in the conference room and they are waiting on the Attorney General.  While they wait Garret is reviewing Ivers' report and tells him that he is very thorough and does good work.  However, he has no idea about the required work necessary in a morgue.  Ivers defends himself, but Garret sticks with it.  Garret then tells Ivers that he is finding resumes in the copier and assumes that the Attorney General wants someone to be fired.  Garret tells Ivers not to waste any more time and that he will quit...under the condition that all the rest of the staff stay and Ivers leaves the morgue for good.  Nigel interrupts their meeting and whispers into Garret's ear and updates him on what is going on with Mr. Gonzales.  Garret gets up to leave and tells Ivers to discuss his offer with the Attorney General.

Nigel leads Garret to the autopsy room and they talk to Bug through the window and get the latest findings.  Bug tells them that it is not a toxin or bacterium.  He thinks it looks like some kind of hemorrhagic disease.  Nigel then finds something disturbing on the computer and Garret tells him to call Jordan and Woody.  Garret then makes a phone call to the Center for Disease Control.

Jordan and Woody arrive outside Mrs. Gonzales' apartment and Jordan reminisces about her first apartment after college.  When she was only paying $250/month and she bought a new car.  Woody jokes with her and guesses her car was stolen.  Jordan smiles and tells him it was snatched within a week.  As they are walking into the hallway leading into the apartments Jordan receives the phone call from Nigel informing her about what they found.  Jordan hangs up the phone and tells Woody that it is a hantavirus...which is a rat disease.  Jordan grabs two masks and hands one to Woody to put on before going into the apartment.  Woody knocks on the door and they both hear Mrs. Gonzales inside coughing and gasping for breath.  Woody breaks down the door and they run inside to find Mrs. Gonzales lying on the bed coughing.  Jordan rushes over to her and props her up on some pillows so she can breath better.  She tells Woody to call the paramedic, but then Woody hears a woman in the hallway speaking in Spanish saying she needs a doctor.  Woody goes to the lady and at the same time calls the paramedics and tells them the situation.  Back in the apartment Jordan is tenting to Mrs. Gonzales when a little girl comes in and asks Jordan to help her wake up her father.  Jordan goes with the girl into the apartment and sees the father lying on the floor. Jordan checks on him, but he is already dead.  Woody comes in to see what is going on and then the little girl rushes to her fathers side and pleads with him in Spanish to wake up.  Jordan then notices some big rats in the apartment and grabs the girl and pulls her away from her father.  Jordan takes off her mask and covers the little girls mouth so she is breathing better air.

Act two: Back at the morgue the news has hit that 5 people have been found dead so far in the apartment complex.  Nigel informs Garret that the temporary morgue is being set up on site and Garret grabs his kit and heads out.  On the way out Ivers runs into him and lets him know that the Attorney General is considering his offer.  Garret then tells Ivers that they will be going over budget today because of the hantavirus.  Ivers asks Garret if he has contacted Public Health and the CDC, and Garret informs him that he knows how to do his job.

Outside the apartment complex tents are being set up for the residents of the apartments to go and be checked out.  Jordan is there in the mix of everything trying to keep things under control.  A woman approaches Jordan and introduces herself as Martha and she is from the Public Health.  She tells Jordan that they have confirmed that it is a hantavirus and they no longer need to wear masks.  She then tells Jordan that they are testing the blood of everyone who has been in the building, so Jordan has to get her blood tested.  After Jordan gets her blood drawn she takes a couple of kits to draw the blood from the little girl so it can be tested as well.  The little girl is pretty scared while Jordan is preparing to take her blood so Woody tries to distract her by asking her if she knows how long it takes an elephant to blink.  They play a short little game and then Jordan tells Elaina she is all finished.  Elaina thinks that Woody can do magic because the pain stopped right when Woody said it would.  So she asks Woody to use the magic on her father and wake him up.  Woody looks at Jordan with a helpless look.  Jordan sends Elaina to be looked after by someone else from the apartment.  Jordan asks Woody if he has found anything out about Elaina's Mom, but all he knows is she cleans houses, but does not know where.

In another section of the tent Jordan and Garret do autopsies on two of the victims, one of them being Elaina's father.  Someone wheels in a gurney and Jordan sees that it is Mrs. Gonzales who has also fallen victim to the virus.  After turning her attention back to Elaina's father she finds that the liver has been lacerated.  Garret takes a look at it as well and they determine that he had been punched numerous times and with the hantavirus on top of things there is no way he could survive.  Woody then comes in and informs them that he has found where the mother works. Jordan then tells Woody that Elaina's father was beaten to death.  Woody then goes to find Elaina and asks her about when she was with her father before he "went to sleep."  Elaina is visibly scared to talk to Woody about it, but she tells Woody that the "Bird Man" was there.  Woody asks Elaina what the Bird Man was doing with her father, and Elaina just tells Woody that he wasn't nice to her father.  There is a flashback of Elaina hiding under the bed watching her father being beaten up by another man.  We can only see their feet.  When Elaina's father falls to the floor the other man kicks him repeatedly.  Back to reality Woody sees that Elaina is just too scared to tell him anymore so he just hugs her and gives her a kiss on the head and tells her everything is going to be ok.

Outside the tent Jordan is taking a break sitting with her head in her hand looking very tired.  Woody comes out and tells her that Elaina's Mom was there.  Jordan jumps up to go and meet her.  The woman that Elaina's mother worked for was with her and Mrs. Garcia was showing signs of the virus...gasping for breath and showing signs of the flu.  Jordan questions the woman Mrs. Garcia worked for and basically found out the virus hit her fast.  Then Jordan notices a rash on the woman's arm, the same rash she saw on Mr. Gonzales.  Jordan asks her when the last time she was in Mrs. Garcia's apartment, but she informs Jordan that she has never been there.  Jordan then figures out that the virus is spreading.

Back in the tent Jordan informs Martha and Garret that this disease is spreading person to person.  Maria says that it is not possible.  Jordan then tells her that the woman Mrs. Gonzales worked for never set foot in the apartment complex, and Garret agrees that the virus is spreading.  Martha informs them that is not the way hantaviruses are transmitted.  Jordan tells her that this virus is spreading like a cold or the flu.  Basically one in two of the people exposed will be dead.  Garret tells Martha they need to lock the place down because they are in a hot zone.  Garret, Jordan and Martha stand in the middle of the tent shocked at the situation they are dealing with, looking at all the people around them who are most likely infected with the virus.

Act three: Back at the morgue Bug comes into the conference room where Lily and Ivers are working.  Bug is wearing a mask and tells Lily to stay put and tells Ivers to get out.  Lily asks Bug why he is wearing a mask and he tells her it is for her protection.  He then tells Ivers that the body he did not want Jordan to autopsy and the victims wife who came in to ID him turned out to be infected with a deadly communicable disease.  Now the morgue is contaminated.  Bug tells them that the building is in lock down and since Ivers was with the body he needs to leave and stay away from Lily.  Bug tells Lily she is to stay in the conference room and not to let anyone in unless they are wearing a mask.  He also hands her some gloves to use whenever she opens the door.  Lily asks Bug what happens to the baby with something like this.  He tries to assure her that nothing is going to happen.  He tells her to just lock the door behind him and not to let anyone in.  Lily does as he says.

In the crypt Garret arrives with a bunch of the bodies from the apartment.  He tells everyone to get them into the "clean room."  Nigel meets Garret and tells him that Bug is on his way and they will start with trace.  He tells them that Jordan is staying at the site getting oral histories from the people there and they are going to go over all the trace.  They start discussing all the things they are going to need to do and they realize they can not do some of them with out the electron scanning microscope Ivers took away from them.  Garret finds Ivers in the hall and asks him where the microscope is.  Ivers tells him it is in the basement, the delivery people have not picked it up yet.  Garret then tells him that this is one of the situations why they need that microscope and the other equipment.  He tells Ivers to get out of his site, and asks Nigel and Bug to go get the microscope.

Jordan is in the tent interviewing a young woman names Isabelle. She is scared to talk and Jordan tried to convince her that it is ok to talk with her because they are not going to deport anybody.  Jordan is wearing a mask while she is doing the interviewing and Isabelle asks Jordan where the masks are for the rest of them.  Jordan tries to convince her that she is just trying to help.  At that moment Elaina runs up to Jordan upset because the doctors will not let her see her Mom.  Jordan picks her up and puts her on her lap and tells her it is because the doctors are trying to make her mother feel better.  Isabelle asks if Elaina is ok, and tells Jordan that she has been in the US since she was about Elaina's age. She is upset about the way they have been treated during this entire ordeal.  Jordan goes back to the business at hand and tries to get Isabelle to talk to her.  She is still scared and says anyone she mentions could be deported.  Jordan then tells her that anyone exposed to this within the last two or three days could die.  Jordan tells Isabelle that they are in this together.  Isabelle just looks at Jordan, who is still wearing her mask, and says they are not in it together.  Jordan gets the hint and takes off her mask while Elaina is still in her lap falling asleep.  Jordan again tells Isabelle that they need to find all the people contacted.  Isabelle starts talking to Jordan and tells her what she knows.

Woody is with Elaina's Mother and tries to see if she knows of anyone who would want to hurt her husband.  Mrs. Garcia begins to cry.  Woody tells her that he knows she is afraid.  Mrs. Garcia tells him that the man will kill them if she tells him.  Woody asks if the man lives in the building and she says no, but that he is always around.  Woody promises that no one is going to hurt her or Elaina.  She then gives Woody a name, Eduardo, and he is a coyote.  He was the one who arranges for them to come to the US and they still owed him money.  Martha then interrupts them and tells Woody that Mrs. Garcia should not be talking and that he needs to leave.  Before Woody leaves he takes Mrs. Garcia's hand and tells her to get well...for Elaina.

Back at the morgue Lily is still in the conference room and Bug is knocking at the door.  Lily lets him in and he asks her how she is feeling.  She says she is doing ok.  Bug then tells her that an antiviral drug had arrived and that it is very powerful.  Bug thinks that Lily should take the antivirus, but Lily knows that there is a chance that it could harm the baby.  Bug pleas with her to take it because she spent so much time with Mrs. Gonzales and there is a high likelihood that she could have caught it.  Lily then holds up an ultrasound picture of the baby, whom she has names Madelyn. There is no way she is going to risk loosing her.

Nigel is on the phone with Jordan, who is still on site in the tents.  They are working together to try and link all the people who have been infected together.  There are still some names that are not matching up, and in the process of looking for some information on one of the names Jordan suddenly starts feeling very dizzy and her vision is blurred.  She is quiet for a moment and Nigel asks her if she is still there.  Jordan snaps out of it and finds the information she was looking for.  It helps link up more of the victims, but they still are not done.  Bug then comes in and tells Nigel and Jordan that the rats they have been doing testing on don't even have the hantavirus.  Nigel can not believe it.  Jordan tells them to start going over the bodies again and she is going to continue questioning the people there to try and find the missing link.  She hangs up the phone and goes to stand and again has blurred vision and dizziness.  She falls forward leaning on the desk to catch her balance and then she sees Elaina.  She asks Jordan if she is ok.  Jordan quickly sits down and grabs a mask and tells Elaina that she is fine.  Jordan sits hunched over breathing into her mask, consoling Elaina while she struggles to shake the dizziness.

Act Four: Jordan is walking through the tent with her mask on and she is hearing the voices around her all muffled and her vision is still blurry.  She decides to take her mask off and goes to set it down.  Then Woody comes in to talk with her.  He tells her that he talked to Elaina's mother about the bird man and about how he smuggles illegal's across the border.  He thinks it is either a delivery guy or postal worker, so they need to go back in.  Jordan tells him that she needs to stay there and link up the victims but he should go on without her.  Woody goes to leave, but Jordan stops him and tells him to make sure he suits up because they don't really know what this thing is yet.  Woody can see that there is something not quite right about Jordan and he asks her if she is ok.  She says she is just tired.  He then jokes with her about how she looks like crap, and Jordan jokes back to him saying that he does too.

Back in the morgue Garret is in the clean room going over things and Nigel and him are trying to figure out the source of this virus.  They think maybe it is linked some place in Argentina.  They find that this specific strain of the virus can be spread person to person.  Mr. Gonzales has never been to Argentina which means he probably got it from someone who is already dead.  Garret then thinks that since Ivers has been there for 2 weeks, some of the bodies they may not have been allowed to autopsy may also have some clues.  He sends Nigel to the basement to do a little research.  Garret then passes by the conference room on his way back to the office and sees Lily inside.  He updates her on what is going on and tells her the results of their blood tests should be arriving soon.  Garret tells her that he heard from Bug that she did not take the antivirus.  Lily tells him that she does not care what happens to her, and that she only cares about the baby.  She has been sitting there thinking about all the things the baby could be.  Garret puts his hand on the glass and Lily does the same.  Garret tells her that she is going to be ok.

Woody is at the Garcia's apartment looking around and he comes across some paperwork from an Eagle Repair Service, and their logo is a big eagle with its wings spread.

Garret and Nigel go over a body that turns out to have the hantavirus.  He has been in their morgue for over a week, but because he did not meet the criteria Ivers set he did not get an autopsy.  The print out pictures of the man so they can try and ID him.  They send one to Jordan, who is still at the tent with all the people who are sick.  Jordan takes a copy of one of the pictures around bed to bed to see if any of the people recognize him.  She comes to Isabelle's bed and can see she is crying.  It turns out the man is Isabelle's brother.

Jordan is relaying her findings to Nigel and Garret over the phone.  Isabelle's brother just came to the US 10 days ago, and it looks like he got sick either on his way here or after he got here.  Apparently her brother was smuggled in by a coyote.  They wonder if it is the same person who smuggled in Mr. Garcia, but they they realize that is not possible because whoever infected Isabelle's brother would have died well over a week ago, and Mr. Garcia was exposed less than two days ago.  Garret and Jordan then figure out that it is possible if the coyote is an asymptomatic carrier.  He is out there spreading the disease but will not die from it.   Martha then comes into the tent to tell Jordan that there is vaccine there for them all to take so they can not spread the virus, and she is also sending some to the morgue for the rest of them.  She then tells Jordan that there was a problem with her blood work and she needs to take another sample.  Jordan is scared, but rolls up her sleeve so Martha can take another sample.  Woody comes in to tell Jordan he has figured out who the Bird Man is.  She tells him that he is the man spreading the virus.  Martha tells Woody he needs to get the vaccine before he goes looking for Eduardo, the Bird Man.  Woody rushes to the other part of the tent where they are giving the vaccine and cuts in line so he can get out of there quickly.  As he is getting the shot Elaina runs up to him and there is obviously something upsetting her.  She looks at a guy standing in line and he is wearing a shirt that has a big eagle on it, the same logo that was on the sheet Woody found in the Garcia's apartment.  Woody goes after the man and the man takes off.  Woody chases him across the street and gets hit by a taxi in the process.  He is ok and continues chasing Eduardo.  He jumps on him to stop him from running, but Eduardo shoves Woody off of him and grabs a girl and puts a knife to her throat.  Woody tells him that he is the one carrying the virus that is making everybody sick and it will not pain him to shoot him.  Eduardo then lets the girl go and Woody takes him away.

Act Five:  Back at the tent there are ambulances there to take some of the people to the hospital now that they can not spread the virus.  Jordan, who is still wearing her mask, walks Elaina out and Elaina tells her she looks like a monster.  Martha comes out and says that she can take the mask off because her blood tests came back negative.  Jordan is relieved when Martha tells her that the first test was just inconclusive.  Martha gives her the vaccine while Woody comes out of the tent and Elaina runs to him happy because he caught the Bird Man.  Woody and Elaina go to see Elaina's Mom, and before Jordan joins them she grabs a bottle of water.  She goes to try and take a drink with her right hand and she is unable to hold the bottle.  Her hand is weak and shaky.

Back in the morgue Bug knocks on the conference room door.  Lily lets him in and Bug tells her that her tests came back negative and she does not have the hantavirus.  Lily is relieved and gives Bug a huge hug.

Ivers comes into Garrets office and asks him if the body in the crypt, the real first victim, would have been autopsied if he was not there.  Garret tells him that it would have and they would have discovered the disease much earlier.  Garret also tells him that 21 people died because of this.  Ivers tells him that he would stop this if he could, but then his phone rings.  Apparently Garret has talked to the Attorney General and Ivers is no longer needed in the morgue.  Lily bumps into Ivers on his way out of Garrets office.  She can not believe Ivers is finally gone.  However, that is not the reason for her stopping by.  She tells Garret that she can no longer work there anymore.  Her baby should not be listening to the sounds of death all day, but should be listening to music and people laughing.  Garret understands and gives her a hug.

Jordan is back at the morgue and goes into trace.  She knows there is something wrong with her, so she sits down and takes a scan of her head.

Lily is at the elevator with Bug and he has a case with her things.  He does not want her to go, but he knows it is probably the best thing.  He gives her a soft kiss on the cheek and lets the elevator doors close.

Jordan is sitting in trace with the scanned picture of her brain on the computer screen.  Garret comes in and tells Jordan Lily was looking for her.  Jordan tells him that she already talked to Lily.  Garret seems to know something is bothering Jordan and tells her to go home.  Jordan says they are way behind and she should stay.  She then turns his attention to the scan on the computer screen to get his take on it.  He says it is an angioma, but something that size grows in your brain it is ok because it is not cancer.  He asks what symptoms she is having, but Jordan pretends that it is not her, but a patient.  She tells him some of the symptoms she assumes the victim had.  Garret puts his hand on her shoulder and tells her to take care of herself and he leaves the room.  Jordan is left sitting scared and alone.
