Episode 78
Forget Me Not (05-08-05)
Brief Synopsis: Nigel seeks
Jordan's help in finding the person who kidnapped the daughter of his new soul
mate; Lily is startled when the corpse of a homeless man suddenly awakens on the
autopsy table.
Nigel: So today’s episode was
90% Nigel and 10% Jordan-Bug-Woody. It was so nice to see Nigel happy at the
beginning of the episode. His interaction with Maddie (the little girl—which
I’m assuming is short for Madison) was precious. Nigel’s going to make a great
father one day. So we get to see him happy, but not for long. He wakes up and
his nightmare begins.
He lets Jordan and Bug in on what is
going on with the promise that they don’t tell anyone or go to the police. Bug
doesn’t keep his word (more on that later). Jordan keeps her word. It was nice
to see her in the supportive role. Nigel is always there for Jordan, going out
on limbs, keeping things from Macy, helping Jordan out of jambs and taking blame
for things. I was proud of Jordan. She was there for him the entire time and
she kept her mouth shut. And I like when she stuck up for Nigel when the
ex-husband was accusing Nigel of taking his daughter.
Sarah played her part well. She blamed
Woody when things didn’t go as planned, making him feel responsible and then she
tries to draw him into their plan in the end when he realizes what she’s done.
She dragged Nigel through the mud. I hope he can get over her and not become
too jaded because of the experience. Nigel’s an all around good guy who didn’t
deserve to be used by Sarah.
Clues: I had 90% of the case
figured out before we were twenty minutes into the episode. I had my
suspicions about 5 minutes in.
Clue #1 – A very woozy Nigel heads
towards the bedroom after being invited to stay the night and drops into the bed
and is out cold. (NOT normal behavior for ANY guy)
Clue #2 – Nigel wakes up and the two of
them are sleeping on their own side of the bed fully clothed not touching each
other in the slightest. (Again that’s just not normal, unless maybe you’ve been
married for 30 something years…)
Clue #3 – Sarah tells us she’s in a
custody battle with her very wealthy husband. Suddenly a motive appeared for
‘who’ would want to take Maddie.
Clue #4 – Jordan finds hair that belongs
to Beth. Nigel makes a comment that it couldn’t be her because she and Sarah
are the best of friends. I already suspected Beth. Nigel just reminded me that
they were great friends. That was my clue-in that Sarah was involved.
Clue #5 – The kidnapper wants Sarah to
make the drop and has her pick up so no one hears the drop off location. The
first thought that maybe Beth got jealous and wanted money and hence kidnapped
the girl was nixed. And my new belief that they were both involved was
solidified.
Clue #6 – No body found. When they went
to the pick-up spot and found a gruesome scene but no body, I knew she was
alive.
Also the fact that Beth was a nurse
provided an explanation for how all the blood was gathered and appeared.
That said…even though I pretty much
guessed the outcome I did enjoy this episode. Nigel was brilliant. We got to
see him happy, grief stricken, guilty, worried, mad…actually more like furious
(something that doesn’t happen too often, Nigel’s got such an upbeat
temperament), remorseful, and sad.
Bug: Bug really screwed up. Yes
I can see why he went to the police. This wasn’t some small problem that could
be handled by Nigel alone. To break a promise and a person’s trust in you is a
big deal though. Bug and Nigel were at a point where they were really getting
along and now I think we’ll see some reservation in things Nigel tells Bug and
maybe how he acts. I think the one thing going for Bug is the fact that
bringing Woody in on things in the long run did have a positive outcome.
However, not before Nigel had to go through immense worry, then grief at the
thought that Maddie was dead because of him. I’ve never before seen Nigel so
upset as he was when he learned Bug had told Woody.
Lily and Garret: Lily’s getting
much more forceful these days. I think she’s taking lessons from Jordan.
Lily’s a refreshing character. She sees things so differently from the rest of
the staff. A simple love letter has her off and running on a search trying to
find the Delores from the love letter. Garret’s starting to let her railroad
him just like Jordan (I swear she’s taking lessons!) So what IS going on
between Garret and Lily. That seems to be the million dollar question right
now.
Garret and Seely definitely still have a
male macho thing going. It suddenly seems Garret’s protectiveness is taking on
a whole new aspect. Personally I think (and hope) Lily is over Garret, but Lily
being Lily could turn back to Garret if he started to pursue her. Does Garret
really have feeling still? Or is he just under the belief that Lily can do
better than Seely and is hence doing all he can to sabotage Seely’s chances with
Lily. Plus I swear there’s still something there between Garret and Walcott.
Seely’s well aware of what Garret’s
doing and he’s none too happy about it. I can’t blame him. As much as I think
he’s a chauvinistic pig (to quote what Devan once called him) I like the
interaction between him and Lily. And Lily seems to pull out a few decent
traits in him every now and then. Personally I rather see something happen
between Seely and Lily than her and Garret. I think Seely and her would provide
us with endless entertainment.
It would have been nice if Detective
Seely had cleared Mr. Miessner’s name. Granted I know we’re assume he’s
innocent, but still, they introduce this reason to hold him further (which was
pretty flimsy—if Seely had picked the guy up in the morning and there was a
murder wouldn’t there have been other cops around. And if it happened later in
the day don’t you think he still would have heard about the going ons at the
station??) so they should have cleared him for us.
Random Fact: There were actually
NO dead bodies portrayed in this episode. That doesn’t happen often. In fact I
can think of an episode where this has happened before. (I’m not counting the
dead bodies you find in the morgue – I’m counting main story line dead bodies.)
4 out of 5 Dead Bodies. It was
wonderful to see Nigel get to play the lead for once. He did a marvelous job.
