Brief Synopsis:
Jordan is
approached by reporter J.D. Pollack for a favor and finds herself sucked into
the warped world created by a religious cult leader who is suspected of brutally
murdering his young son and ex-wife.
Okay I have many many points to cover. A
lot went on in this episode
The
episode:
So much went on I find I can’t digest it all. First off
let me start with my biggest complaint. Where! Oh Where
is the crime? It seems to have taken a back seat as we
get drama (border line soapy). I love the drama and
character interaction, don’t get me wrong, but a bit
more focused on the crime. Oh and where are all of
Nigel’s gadgets???
My
second small complaint—I felt we had an overload of
J.D. I think he was in just about every other scene.
And yes this could me my not feeling one way or another
about him that causes this remark, though I am trying to
be partial.
Lu:
She stepped out of the car and I was impressed. It was
a good first scene and it won me over. I quite liked
her. She’s strong, independent, didn’t put up with
Woody’s crap, and saw through Woody’s crap. She’s the
first person to get through to Woody since the
shooting. And she did make an impression on him. Woody
needed to be dealt with carefully. A bit of no nonsense
and a bit of caring and understanding and Lu delivered
that.
I’m excited to see more of her and I look
forward to see her story line develop.
Woody
and Lu:
‘Grow up’ Did those two words not say it all? She
pegged Woody. Woody has been responsible his entire
life. He raised his brother, he’s been big brother and
parent. He, for all practical purposes, missed out on
his childhood to some extent. He’s got a care-free
attitude now that he seems to have developed in order to
1) make his life easier to handle (past) and 2) it’s his
way of living life now (present). It’s almost as if
he’s making up for his missed childhood. He’s trying to
live a ‘worry free’ adult life, something his childhood
lacked.
Lu is the first person to point this out
and call him out on it. As said before I look forward
to seeing this relationship (the work
relationship) develop.
Woody:
‘I’m not complicated’ and the pope’s not Catholic (as
they say). Now that’s the biggest load of BS I have
ever heard. Woody’s complicated. Maybe not the same
way Jordan is, but he’s got his own issues. What type
guy hangs around for one girl for FOUR years? Woody’s
let this non-relationship he had with Jordan stay on the
path Jordan set. A man does that then I think he’s
gotta want or at least be happy at the state of
things—which leads me to believe he’s got a few
commitment issues of his own. And think about this—in
Embraceable You he knew the response he was going
to get from Jordan then wouldn’t let her explain in the
end. In Jump Push Fall Jordan (we assume)
takes the next step. She opens up to Woody and HE
pushes her away.
Maybe…just maybe Woody has a few
commitment issues of his own? We know Jordan does.
She’s never disputed that fact, but at least she’s owned
up to it. Woody, do you think they’re some hidden
demons deep inside him?
Woody
and Jordan:
This carries over from the previous points made on
Woody. Jordan has always been the strong (the leader)
of the two in their non-relationship. Jordan has always
been the captain of the ship she and Woody have sailed
together...and that doesn't usually work—at least I
can’t see it working without major problems for Jordan
and Woody. (which is why I was interested and approved
of the story line of new love interest when we heard
about it this summer.) Those two needed a shake
up...some road block that they needed to get
through...then if they’re able to end up at the same
point after that...well then I think they just might
have a chance. (Of course I'm hoping that's where this
is all headed...that Woody and Jordan learn more about
each other and themselves by being in different
relationships...sometimes people have to be apart to
realize they should be together)
On another side note: Anyone notice the
pause at the end when JD asked Woody if he could try for
Jordan. That was a long pause. Woody are you sure you
wanted to tell J.D. yes??
Jordan:
First I’ve gotta get this off my chest (just might be me
and my pet peeves) but WHAT is up with Jordan’s night
wear. She’s a tank and shorts type gal and in five
episodes we’ve seen her in everything but. Did wardrobe
department go on strike and the fills in just don’t know
the show? Okay I’m finish.
So there were a few interesting points
here. 1) When Woody entered the lab/morgue Jordan turns
from the microscope and keeps her back to Woody. And
Woody with some side glances her way basically turns his
back to her too. Garret finally picked up on it. Those
two still have sparks flying between them and they’re
not even together
2) Eli put the hammer to the nail head.
Jordan’s got intimacy issues. We’ve known that all
along, but this is the first time someone had called her
on it. Out right told her she’s got problems. I wonder
if it got through to her and will make a difference.
Sometimes a complete strangers remarks have more affect
on us than the people we love and know.
Jordan
and J.D.:
You know maybe the problem was Jordan and Woody’s
non-relationship always went by Jordan’s rules. Maybe
J.D. will offer a relationship that she’s not in charge
of. Maybe a balance will be beneficial. Jordan needs
someone she can trust right now and (as much as I hate
to say it) I think J.D. might offer this.
Nigel:
I want my Nigel back with his gadgets and books on Trees
in New England and all his other crazy stuff. Though it
was fun to see him and Bug at the sperm bank. And Nigel
can do more than assist. So give him a case!
Bug:
The Bug we know and love seems to be MIA. I miss the
quirky but brilliant Bug. This lay on the couch and
feel sorry for myself Bug annoyed me. Get him a girl!
Please that’s all he wants.
Lily:
I like the new Lily. Maybe though that's because I
couldn't stand the season one Lily...and this is the
complete opposite of season one...so I'm bound to love
it. I just think she's showing more strength and of all
the characters I think she's been the strongest so far.
She’s been bold. She’s spoken her mind. And she’s been
strong in the face of many different obstacles this
season. However she hasn’t lost her softer, caring
side.
Garret:
What’s happening to Garret. And where the hell is he?
He sure isn’t in control of the morgue. He’s been all
over the place with completely NO purpose. And what
right does he have to tell Jordan to ‘get over’ her
issues with Woody? 1) it’s none of his business
(especially since he’s been out of the loop of late) and
2) It’s not effecting her work or job—so he has no right
to interfere with her personal life.
Random:
1) Woody saying ‘no comment’ (I
particularly enjoyed that line)
2) The looks Woody and Jordan still
exchange—they’re still smitten with each other.
3) Mr. And Mrs. Smith…Could we at least
have used Jones?
Whew! That was long. I told you there
was a lot to discuss. Good episode. And I like Lu!
