Episode 31
Don't Look Back (12-02-02)
Brief Synopsis: Jordan and Woody
look for a suspect in the murder of a starlet. Garret's old class mate from
college shows up.
This is me smiling, sighing and
content—Woody and Jordan have just kissed and it was oh so right. This is me
banging my head against the wall as Jordan and Woody agree that they should go
back to being just friends. Are the writers teasing us on purpose! They give a
glimpse and little taste and then they say ‘sorry that’s all you get.’
Yeah I’m a romantic at heart—sue me. I
so want to see those two together.
So now that I got that off my chest on
with the rest of the episode—which was very good by the way. Bug and Lily’s
story was appealing and insightful. As was Garret’s story. Everyone learned a
little something about themselves or a co-worker. Good character growth.
Jordan and Woody: So if we throw
Woody and Jordan together out on a deserted road and have their car break down
we might get some more kisses?!?! The two of them had some bonding going on.
The attraction has been there since they first met, and it’s only gotten
stronger. I think Woody would be able to handle Jordan. However the writers
had them pulling back and agreeing to just be friends. I don’t want to see
either of them get hurt so I guess I can live with them going back to friends as
long as they realize that there’s so much more there than just friendship and
they finally get together.
The two of them work well on cases
together. They each see different aspects and come together in the end to solve
the crime. It’s fun watching the two of them reach their destination.
Lily and Bug: Oh I think Bug is
just going to end up getting his heart broken. That scene at the end with him
and Lily didn’t leave me with a good feeling. It seemed like Lily was doing the
best she could to avoid talking about their little charade and the conversation
she had with her mother. Bug’s such a nice guy and I don’t want to see him
hurt.
Bug was amazing. We all coo over Woody
and how sweet he is, but Bug deserves some of our ‘cooing’ as well. Did you see
how he stuck up for Lily, when her mother was listing her faults. (rotten of her
mother to do that—either she doesn’t want to see Lily happy (selfish) or she
really sees those to be major faults of Lily’s, which is sad.) He’s one of
those good guys that always seems to get their hearts broken. Maybe Lily will
change her view of Bug. She turned him down once though—feelings can grow and
change so I won’t rule anything out.
That much more of her to love.
Garret: I particularly liked
Garret’s case. It was a minor plot line but as a writer I think it portrayed a
great message. You can have all the great ideas in the world but if you don’t
do anything with them then you’ve only yourself to blame. Writing takes
courage, skill (obviously—but this you can learn and improve upon) faith (or
belief) in your work. Anytime I have an idea I sit down and I write about it.
Oh some didn’t pan out and the first novel I wrote was a challenge and a
half…but it got easier. And when I couldn’t get something published I couldn’t
be disappoint in myself, because I’d at least sat down and wrote. I put my idea
to paper and made it take life—rather than dream about the idea my entire life.
Nash does what Garret never had the courage to do—write his novel. In the
process it destroys his life (and it’s not even a very good novel) but he had
the courage to try. For that Nash got Garret’s respect. You can’t be afraid to
do something. It might seem like a huge undertaking, impossible to do, but
nothing is impossible. No one might ever read Nash’s book, but he wrote it. He
lived a part of his dream.
(I
can't help myself I have to add this quote) "Rejected
pieces aren't failures; unwritten pieces are."
-Greg Daugherty. (You see why I added it.
It sums up Garret's story line perfectly.)
It takes courage to write. Garret
learned a little something about himself in this episode.
4 out of 5 Dead Bodies. Okay it had to get a 4
just because of the kiss. The entire episode could have sucked and I’d still
give it a 4—luckily the episode was very good, so I’m justified in my rating!
