Episode 42
Dead Wives Club (04-14-03)

Brief Synopsis: A woman's corpse is found at the bottom of the ocean, and Jordan aggressively investigates the victim's husband.

Three dead wives, three totally different stories, three appealing stories.

So I’ll start with Peter.  They didn’t make me wait very long to learn more about him.  Poor Peter.  He’s not a morning person.  Macy is harping about him not being here.  Then he walks in and identifies the body on the table as his wife.  We soon learn that Peter met Allison during his residency.  She was apparently the one with drug problems and Peter got pulled in along with her.

Peter got clean and tried his best to get Allison clean too.  However he couldn’t save her (she didn’t want to be saved).  We learn in the end that Allison died because she’d finally made the choice to get clean too, only she’d tried to go about it too quickly.  It’s a sad story for both of them.  Peter cared deeply for Allison, despite her problems and he took her death hard.

I knew Peter wouldn’t be able to resist the drugs when the doctor gave them to him.  Peter and Garret had some good scenes together.  Garret was able to help straighten Peter out a little and in the end they were able to work together to expose the doctor and his corrupt practice and give a little justice to Allison in the process.

Lily and the distraught husband—he’s a little freaky and—in a sad way—a pathetic character.  He’s distraught over his wife’s (senseless) death.  He’s got two young kids and he totally falls apart at the thought of having to take care of them on his own.  He’s a weak man.  Lily tries to comfort him and nothing she says seems to help, so she visits his graduation—probably something she shouldn’t have done, but I can understand her actions.  He latches on to her, substituting Lily for the place of his wife.  Even when Lily’s at the police station telling him to get some professional help, he makes excuses and blames Lily.  Weak, sad and pathetic.  He dishes out some mean comments to her and she dealt with the situation pretty well.

And now on to the last wife—Linda Farris.  This was Jordan’s case and I found this one the most interesting.  Linda Farris was reported missing over 13 years ago.  She disappeared after she had an argument with her husband.  She went running in the park and was never seen again.  She was put in a trunk and dumped in the bay.  The cold temperature of the water preserved her body at the immortal again of 22.  It was a bit freaky.

Jordan thinks the husband is guilty, like what most people thought.  She sets out to prove it, even though her father thinks he’s innocent—a gut feeling.  They have a bit of an argument over it and in the end Jordan apologizes to him and all’s well.

The conversation with her and Nigel over the ‘mattress button’ was hilarious.  Nigel’s going on and on about it calling it ‘mattress DNA’ and Jordan’s rolling her eyes waiting for him to get to the end of it.  In the end they prove it was some random person lying in wait for anyone to come running by.

What was scary about it was the confession Jordan made to her father about going running in that same park on that same night.  She’d just been ‘used’ by a guy and was an emotional wreck and didn’t care what happened to her.  IN fact she wanted something to happen to her.  It’s a chilling thought.

4 out of 5 Dead Bodies.  It was an enjoyable episode with some great personality clashes and revelations.  And they worked three plot lines together quite nicely.
