Season 5: Jordan-Woody Dance Analysis

1- There’s No Place Like Home 2:
Jordan: one step forward – She’s ready to be there for Woody, ready to open up if given the slightest bit of encouragement.

Woody: three steps backward – Woody rejects Jordan.  He’s plagued with self pity and refuses to accept Jordan’s comfort or reassuring words.

2- Luck Be a Lady:
Jordan: one step backward – Jordan’s head is turned by a visit from Danny.  After being snubbed by Woody she embraces the fun Danny offers.

Woody: one step backward – Woody treats Jordan badly.  He’s pissed off and sees no wrong in his actions.

3- Under the Weather:
Jordan: one step backward – Jordan doesn’t give Woody the time of day and takes offense to him telling her what she should or shouldn’t do.

Woody: one step forward, one step backward – Woody shows some concern for Jordan, only to act like a jerk in the end.

4- Judgement Day:
Jordan: two steps backward – Jordan ignores Woody.  She meets JD.  Sparks fly between her and JD.  They get on each others nerves, but JD is something different than Woody.

Woody: one step backward – Woody ignores Jordan.

5 – Enlightenment:
Jordan: one step backward – Jordan kisses JD (under rather stressful circumstances).  The sparks fly however and a second kiss (under more natural circumstances) occurs and something is started between Jordan and JD.

Woody: one step backward – Woody has little interaction with Jordan.  When JD asks Woody if he can ‘pursue’ Jordan, Woody tells JD to be his guest.

6- Total Recall:
Jordan: one step backward - JD asks Jordan to go to Martha’s Vineyard with him for a weekend.  She says yes, then backs out, then after a talk from Nigel, goes back to make up with JD.

Woody: neutral – Woody continues on his own path of self destruction, but he has little to do with Jordan, more caught up in his own case and dealing with Lu.

7- Road Kill:
Jordan: one step forward, one step backward – Serial killer Ryan Kessler plays with Jordan and Woody’s minds.  They work together on almost peaceful terms for the first time in a while.  JD is there to remind Woody of what he lost though, causing some friction.

Woody: one step forward, one step backward - Woody works with Jordan without the meanness from past months.  He sees JD taking over the role he wanted with Jordan.

8- A Man in Blue:
Jordan: one step forward – Jordan teams up with Lu to help clear Woody’s name.  She shows she cares and that she and Woody are starting to get back on stable ground.

Woody: one step forward – Woody is back to his normal self.  He picks Jordan up when her car is in the shop and the two have ‘normal’ conversations.  They seem to have gotten pass the mean words shared between them earlier in the season.

9- Loves Me Not:
Jordan: three steps backward, two steps forward – Jordan and Woody finally go past the ‘almost’ mark and sleep together.  Jordan however is still dating JD and this causes a slew of problems.

Woody: two steps forward, one step backward – Woody is finally able to move forward in his relationship with Jordan, just he does it while she is seeing another man and while they are under rather dicey circumstances.

10- The Elephant in the Room:
Jordan: one step forward, two steps backward – Jordan and Woody talk but also dance around the issue of what happened.  They are getting along much better though.  Jordan still hasn’t told JD what she did.  He finally tells her he knows what happened.  He figured it out.

Woody: one step forward – Woody wants her to talk with JD. 

11- Code of Ethics:
Jordan: three steps backward – Jordan is dealing with a frustrated JD.  He’s sabotaging their relationship…giving Jordan and reason for a way out.  Both parties are feeling lousy and confused.  JD leaves on sad but understanding terms.

Woody: one step forward – Woody admits he deserved the sucker punch JD gave him.  He wants to know how Jordan’s talk with JD went.  Nothing is clearly defined in their relationship.  Both are confused.

12- Dreamland:
Jordan: neutral – Jordan and Woody work together.

Woody: one step backward – Woody refuses Jordan’s offer to come in saying he doesn’t want to be her rebound guy.

13- Death Toll:
Jordan: neutral – No interaction.

Woody: one step backward – Woody comforts Lu, which leads to her kissing him.  When talking with Dr. Stiles he admits the kiss is stuck in his head, 

14- Blame Game:
Jordan: neutral – No interaction.

Woody: one step backward – Woody and Lu work a case together.  The water is staring to boil between them.  There’s definitely something there.

15- Someone to Watch Over Me:
Jordan: neutral – Jordan has other things on her mind and is oblivious to what is going on with Woody.

Woody: two steps backward – Lu and Woody are sleeping together.  It seems their relationship has progressed and Woody has forgotten (or tried to anyway) about Jordan. 

16- Save Me:
Jordan: one step backward – Jordan is still oblivious to what is going on between Woody and Lu, but she goes to Woody to ask him to write a recommendation for her.  He does, but it leaves you to wonder what his motives were behind it.

Woody: one step backward – Woody still hasn’t told Jordan despite Lu insisting he needs to mention it to her.  The two of them are hiding their relationship from everyone.

17- Thin Ice:
Jordan: one step backward – Jordan walks in on Woody and Lu kissing and is finally clued in to what is going on. 

Woody: one step backward – Woody can’t seem to make up his mind and take any action.  He tries to explain things to Jordan but doesn’t get very far.

18- Mysterious Ways:
Jordan: one step backward – Jordan tells Woody he doesn’t have anything to apologize about and that she doesn’t have anything to say and there is NOTHING to talk about—despite Woody’s instances that ‘Lu says’ she should talk it over.

Woody: one step backward – Woody keeps pushing Jordan to talk.  She finally reaches a boiling point and kisses Woody and Lu and proclaims she has nothing to talk about.  Tense between Lu and Woody is evident.

19- Don’t Leave Me this Way:
Jordan: one step forward – The two are definitely on solid ground.  Woody and Jordan are back to their old ways.  Jordan asks him for his help (at pricey costs) and he gives it to her.  At the end he takes her side over Lu’s.

Woody: one step forward – Woody breaks up with Lu.  His emotions and feelings for Jordan finally cause the split.

Overall: This wasn’t a particularly good year for Jordan and Woody.  While they saw a few ups, they were far outweighed by the downs.  There is hope though that a better year is ahead of them.  By the end of the year it seemed Woody was finished with Lu.  Jordan, while seeking revenge for JD’s death, was back on more even ground with Woody.
