Season 4:
Jordan-Woody Dance Analysis
1-
After Dark:
Jordan:
one step backward – She knows she has a Ball to
go to with Woody and she’s goes on a body run with Bug.
Now that’s what I call ‘avoiding’
Woody:
one step backward – I actually consider this two
giant leaps forward…but technically they moved back
backwards since Woody went on a date (as I’m calling it)
with Devan. A tension’s been brewing between these two
since they met in season 3. Woody finally got tired of
waiting for Jordan and moved onto Devan.
2- Out of Sight:
Jordan:
neutral – Easy bantering going on between the
two. Jordan works really well with Woody.
Woody:
one step forward – Always concerned for Jordan’s
safety. He truly worried to death when he realizes
Jordan’s trapped in the apartment with a killer.
Woody’s cute too when he gets jealous (though he tried
to keep his comments limited).
3- Intruded:
Jordan:
2 steps backward – She draws Woody in and then when
he suddenly gets too close for comfort she pushes him
back. How the guy stands it and he keeps coming back.
This was Jordan’s last shot and she blew it.
Woody:
neutral – He gives in to Jordan’s request to
leave things as they are. He gave it one last try and
obviously Jordan still isn’t over her commitment
issues. His attention is going to switch towards Devan.
4- Blue Moon:
Jordan:
one step forward – No tension between either.
They worked well together. Jordan didn’t do or say
anything stupid.
Woody:
one step forward – Detective Santana picked up
on the vibes between Woody and Jordan and teased Woody
about it. He starts to deny it, but lets it go. He’s
still sweet on Jordan, even if he’s seeing Devan.
5- What Happens
in Vegas Dies in Boston:
Jordan:
one step forward – Nothing major happened here,
but Jordan and Woody got to spend some time together.
And I thought this was a good episode in that Danny
picked up on the vibe between Jordan and Woody and of
course she denies it. That’s our Jordan.
Woody:
one step forward – Usual lovable self. He and
Jordan had fun. That’s always nice to see. They don’t
just ‘have fun’ together that often.
6- Fire From the
Sky:
Jordan:
one step forward– Jordan’s supportive. She
didn’t like seeing Woody and Devan together but she put
that behind her and helped Woody out, she was a friend.
Woody:
two steps backward – Losing someone is hard no
matter how, but losing someone in a plane crash the way
Devan died is extremely tough. Woody’s going to need a
little grieving time.
7- Murder in the
Rue Morgue:
Jordan:
one step forward – Jordan and Woody are back to
their usual banter.
Woody:
one step forward – Woody in the familiar role of
worrying about Jordan—after she goes ahead and doesn’t
listen to him. He’s getting good at handling these
situations.
8- You Really Got
Me:
Jordan:
one step forward, then 2 steps backwards – The
girl finally opened up. I was thrilled. I even forgave
her for answering the phone when she and Woody were
about to kiss (It was asking way too much of
Jordan to ignore the phone. If she’d ignored it I would
have been upset because then I’d be complaining how that
not Jordan’s nature). The two were actually having some
serious conversations and some big time bonding was
going on and then with 3 minutes left Jordan had to go
push Woody away, sending him off to Florida. Oh my…just
shot me now. My heart can’t handle much more of this.
Woody:
2 steps forward – He’s too good for her. It’s
obvious he’s got it bad for Jordan. He goes to CA to
help her! This when he’s already got plans for a
concert in Florida. If that doesn’t scream “I’m
smitten” then I don’t know what does.
9- It Happened
One Night:
Jordan:
one step forward – Jordan starts the episode out
by standing Woody up and as you can imagine he's not too
happy, but for once Jordan actually had a good reason.
The two of them (kind of) have that conversation Woody
wants to have.
Woody:
one step forward – Jordan actually opens up a
little bit to Woody about her relationship with her
father, which sheds new light on things from Woody's
point of view. He shows he cares once again,
however they never totally resolved what happened in the
previous episode (It Happened One Night).
10- Skin and
Bone:
Jordan:
one step forward– Jordan teases Woody over Cal.
At the end of the episode Jordan’s there supporting
Woody, comforting him—It was wonderful to see Jordan
there for Woody for a change.
Woody:
two steps forward – Wow! Someone was claiming his
territory. I think Woody’s comment (to his brother) you
can have any girl in Boston but Jordan made his feelings
pretty clear.
11- Embraceable
You:
Jordan:
two steps backward, one step forward – You could
see trouble coming a mile away when Woody walked in and
handed Jordan a jewelry box. She did not handle the
situation well at all. At least she felt guilty about
it all and was questioning her motives throughout the
episode. Woody got some digs in and serves her right.
She slightly redeems herself in the end when she talks
with Woody. I was sure she was going to open up (even
admit she wanted a chance) but Woody went and opened his
mouth. I can’t blame him. Track record proves she was
probably going to say something that hurt him (however
unintentional).
Woody:
two steps forward, 1 step backward – He’s trying
to take things to the next level with Jordan, but she
shots him down every chance she gets. The ring was a
big test and she failed it miserably. Woody was really
hurt by Jordan’s actions and he’s starting to rethink if
it is all worth the effort. As we see in the end when
he tells Jordan they should just be friends. Poor Woody
can’t stand to have his heart broken anymore. Can you
blame the guy?
12- Locard’s
Exchange:
Jordan:
neutral – Amazingly enough she does what Woody
tells her. Don’t expect that to happen too often. She
yields to Woody’s concern for her (and DA Walcott).
Woody:
one step forward – Concerned for her safety he
sticks to her side or makes sure someone else is
watching out for her. Woody doesn’t take any lip from
Jordan this episode. He lays down the law and amazingly
Jordan follows—she listens. Maybe he should try this
more often.
13- Sanctuary:
Jordan:
neutral – Jordan accepts Woody’s concern. She
even lets him comfort her in the ending scene. Granted
it wasn’t any sure fire moving forward, but there
weren’t any steps back and she let Woody play the
concern friend.
Woody:
one step forward – Again Woody was there, worried
to death about Jordan’s safety. Everything he did was
focused on getting Jordan out alive.
14- Jump Push
Fall:
Jordan:
three steps forward – Wow. Nothing like the
thought of losing someone to make you step up to the
plate. Don’t hold your breath though, I don’t think
we’ll see Jordan ever take so many steps again.
Woody:
two steps backwards – Wow (again) Woody telling
Jordan to get lost. Now there’s a first. Granted he
was on some mega painkillers and facing the possibility
of being paralyzed. I have to say I’m glad Woody told
Jordan ‘no’ for once. Maybe this will kick Jordan in
gear.
The tables have been
turned, but I think because Jordan wasn’t the one doing
the turning away we’ve actually moved forward in the big
picture—which is why Jordan gets three giant steps. I
know we don’t know what she said to Woody, but she said
something important and profound.
Overall:
We add the steps up and it looks like they’ve ended up a
few steps forward. There’s hope in sight.
My wishes
After some pushing away by Woody in the beginning of
season 5 they get together. And then we have a whole
new game going! Which one kills the other first (or
drives the other out of his or her mind). I think the
two of them could have a wonderfully entertaining
relationship.
Lock them in the
same room and don’t let them come out until they resolve
their issues—I think that’s the only way to deal with
those two.
