Teaser:
Jordan and Woody wake up together in bed. Then
Jordan roles over and
JD is on the other side of her. They start making out.
Then Woody pops up: “What am I chop liver.” JD tells
him to get lost. Then phone starts ringing and
Jordan wakes up alone.
At
Garrets place. Some music is playing really loud,
Abby’s music. Garret comes in asking her to turn it
down. Abby is in bed with
Chad—her boyfriend.
Garret just gives them a look leaves not sure what to
say.
Woody and Jordan are at a crime scene. There is a dead
body in a hot tub--Sergeant Black, US Army. He’s been
shot three times.
Woody spies JD off to the side and Jordan groans. Woody
says I guess you haven’t told him yet and
Jordan says JD figured
it out, she didn’t have to tell him. JD comes over and
starts spouting out ‘notions on the murder’ saying maybe
it was a crime of passion…a jealous lover.... All this
in front of Woody. He’s trying to make a point to the
two.
Jordan says that’s
enough JD. Woody says no, no it’s alright. He gets
where JD is coming from. JD says no it’s not alright
then punches Woody in the stomach. He tells Woody to
stay AWAY from his
Girlfriend.
Jordan flips and shouts
at JD “You don’t own me” and then she storms off.
Act One:
Garret at morgue: Garret is talking with Lily about
finding Abby in bed with her boyfriend. She tries to
offer him some advice.
Dead
body comes in. He collapsed on the T and died—heart
gave out. Nigel explains that Leo, the dead man, was
arrested for kidnapping someone 21 years ago. Leo was
gardener at the
Hearst’s house—their son was
kidnapped. Leo was never found guilty. Trial was a hung
jury. Garret wants to know what any of this has to do
with the body. Nigel says nothing, but it's
interesting…a bit disappointed that Macy doesn’t care.
Leo’s son comes in. Garret says that cause of death
indicates chest failure.
Jordan
and Bug in lab going over the dead body. Woody comes
in. 9 millimeter slugs in dead body--they don't match
anything in the system.
Jordan says time of
death was between 10-12. Bug fines a hair from the hot
tub water.
Jordan
apologizes for JD’s behavior the other day. Woody says
it’s ok. He would have done a lot worse if another guy
had slept with the girl he wanted to marry.
Jordan looks shocked.
What? Who said anything about marriage? Woody
stumbles…he explains how he heard it from Nigel…and
Jordan is still totally shocked…Woody finally bails and
says he has to go…leaving a shell shocked
Jordan behind.
Woody talking with Cornel from Army--Sergeant Black's
superior. The Colonel points Woody to Captain Osborne
who worked with Black. Tells him to talk to her –
Woody is talking with her (she has red hair). He
brings her in for interrogation. She explains she was
in love with dead solider. Woody pushes her buttons
trying to see where her mind is. She explains how the
evening went on. Ordering food, the hot tub… It was
their 6 month anniversary and they were celebrating.
She had to leave at 9:30 to get back to base. The
Captain comes up to Woody when he lets her go…her
relationship…Woody says your secret is safe with me.
(Soldiers in the same unit aren't allowed to have
relationships with each other.)
Jordan is at the precinct with Woody. She's saying
she thinks Captain Osborne is innocent. Woody
spies JD heading his way.
Jordan
runs off. She says I can’t…can’t deal with him.
JD
comes up to ask Woody a question about a company. He
knows nothing about it. Woody says what’s this about.
JD grins and say read tomorrows paper.
Nigel and Lily in morgue. Nigel has an image on screen
Lily says that’s Leo’s son. Nigel gets cryptic.
Garret meets Abby at the morgue. She tells Garret she’s
dropped out of school. She wants money, but Garret
won’t give any. Garret wants to know if it’s
Chad’s idea--that she
drop out of school. Garret says fine, you want to drop
out go for it. You want money get a job.
Jordan’s
Apartment - 5am. She’s sleeping. Pounding on her
door. She gets up. She says Pollack use your key.
She
opens the door and it’s Woody. He says: Wrong Guy.
Woody has a newspaper with JD's article. Sergeant Black
was about to expose a cover up of faulty armor.
Act Two:
In apartment. Jordan and Woody are discussing the
case. Woody says he dealing with everything but she has
to deal with Pollack and get the name of his source.
Jordan
comes up to JD at his place. JD says they need to
talk. She agrees but first she wants the name of his
source. He won’t give it to her.
Jordan says Woody can
give his source protection. JD laughs and says “Could
he now?” He drives off leaving Jordan standing
alone and frustrated.
Nigel comes up to Garret. The man who claimed to be the
son of Leo isn’t his son. Not the same blood type.
Nigel thinks that the son is actually the boy who was
kidnapped all those years ago. Nigel says they could
exhume the body and test the DNA.
Woody at an office (of the company that makes the
vest). Woody talking to the receptionist about the dead
soldier. Woody goes in to talk with the heads of the
Company that produces the vest. They say that their
vest are good. Woody says if the accusations are true
they (the company) stands to lose a big chunk of
change…Woody asks about the source. Company says
they’ve got disgruntle employees. Woody leaves, but
asks one question…Can you verify your where abouts…
Morgue:
Jordan and Woody are talking. Woody says he subpoenaed
JD.
Colonell Worth is in the morgue. They’re talking
Sergeants Black's body. Because of the scandal he's now
their case. He’s not working with
Jordan on it either.
The Army does things on their own.
In
house: Garret is talking with the parents of the boy who
was kidnapped. Garret asks them if he can exhume their
son's body. Garret holds back, but finally explains
that the boy might not be their son. That Henry might
still be alive.
Judge Paterson’s office. Woody arrest JD for contempt.
He WON’T reveal his source.
Jordan
is talking with the Captain. They’re looking at the
vest. Private First Class Christopher Gurny died
recently and the Sergeant said it was because his vest
failed.
Jordan
talking with Christopher’s mother. She says he was
killed in
Baghdad.
Jordan
explains she wants to find out what happened to her
son. The boy was wearing the vest when he died.
Jordan promises she’ll
find out what happened to her son.
Act Three:
Jordan
walks into jail. And guys start whistling. JD jails at
them to SHUT UP. She’s his.
Jordan is talking with
JD. JD and Jordan have their ‘talk’ right there. Says
he thought they had something good going and then she
screwed it up by jumping in bed with ‘farm boy’. JD
says everything happens for a reason though. And he
thinks this happened so he could see the real ‘you’
(Jordan) before he did something stupid (implying asking
her to marry him).
Jordan
at precinct talking with Woody. Going through stuff
that was in Pollack’s desk--his work sent it over in
hops that it would help get him released. She finds the
ring. Woody tried to stop her from opening it, but
it's too late.
Jordan says: You think
you know someone and then you find out you’re on a
completely different page. How does that happen. Woody
says you’re a complicated girl Jordan. She turns away
and says she’ll go autopsy the body (of Christopher, the
man who died in Baghdad).
Lily
comes in looking for glasses. They’re Jeffery’s she
explains when Garret gives her a weird look and asks
since when do you wear glasses. They’re going over the
body of the boy they exhumed. They find out that the
boy has a genetic disease that would have killed him
before he was 10.
Lily
gives Garret some info. It’s on
Chad, Abby’s boyfriend.
Lily
finds Bug alone. He gives Lily back the glasses
she's looking for. Lily tries talking about what
Bug said to her last week. Bug says it’s okay, they
don't have to talk. She says it’s not. She tries
talking to him. She’s very nervous. Doesn’t know what
to say. Bug says it’s weird cause as soon as he said
the words last week the feelings disappeared. He says
when he finally said it out loud he was able to move
past it. Says he finally feels like he’s facing a whole
new world of possibilities. Lily looks at him, doubtful
and a bit confused. Then Lily is RELIEVED…she says
that's good that they've moved past this.
Woody comes into the Morgue. He found the same report
on the vest in JD's stuff that the Company gave him only
difference between the two is ‘water’. Jordan's
confused. Not sure that that means.
Bug
is in the lab testing two vest—one from the company and
one worn by a man in
Iraq for the past few months.
They find that one is faulty…the fibers have broken down
because of ‘water’, sweat and perspiration from the men
from wearing them day in and day out.
Abby
comes into Garret’s office. He shows her the police
report and accuses her of doing drugs. He grabs her
purse and starts to empty it. Tries to pull up her
sleeve. She slaps him and gabs her stuff and runs out
of the morgue. Lily is standing in the hall staring at
Garret, shocked and worry on her face.
Act Four:
Woody comes into the morgue.
Jordan
is going over his stomach contents. Jordan holds up a
yellowish looking disk. She's not sure what it is.
Woody knows it's a butterscotch--and where it was eaten,
cause he took one from the Secretary's desk at the
Company's office.
The
secretary, Beth is the source. Woody and Jordan play
her, they say they found her prints on it and JD
confessed--even though they only assume the prints are
hers and JD never really confessed. Woody says
tell us. She says she can’t cause she has a daughter.
They’ll kill her.
Morgue: Lily is telling Garret to call Abby. Nigel
comes in. The dead boy is Leo’s son--they work out how
it must have played out. Leo's own son being sick
and him needing money to pay for the bills. He
thought to kidnap his rich employers son for random.
Only he's arrested and can't get to his son while in
jail and his son dies, so he decides to keep the kid he
kidnapped...
Company: Beth is going over files with Jordan and Woody.
She says the bid was for $27 million only the company
only reported $25 million, which leaves 2 million
missing. Jordan finds a file with a name
they recognize on it. The 2 million was a pay
off...
Garret is in office with Leo’s son and they’re
explaining the possibilities of what really happened.
The son is shocked. He’s not sure how to deal with it.
He wants some time to think about the situation. Won’t
do a DNA test just yet.
Jordan and Woody come up to the Colonel. He pocketed $2
million in exchange for awarding the Company the
contract. They confiscated his laundry and found blood
spatter on his clothes that matches the Sergeant. The
cops arrest him.
Jordan
explains to Christopher’s mom what happened. She thanks
Jordan
and Bug for their work.
Leo’s son is in the morgue and he meets the
Hearst’s his biological parents.
Lily, Nigel and Garret watch on.
Garret at his apartment. All of Abby’s stuff is gone
and Garret's stereo system is missing. She’s moved
out. Garret gets a bottle and has a drink. (out of
another ugly coffee mug)
Jordan
comes home to her place. JD is there. He’s packing his
stuff. He says he thought he'd be gone before she got
back. He says his editor thought he needed some
time away. He’s going to DC.
Jordan asks for how
long. He says he's not sure, maybe for a long
while. She gets what he's saying, this is the end.
Jordan
says he was right. She sabotaged this. She needs to
figure out what she wants. JD says she already knows.
She says it’s really pathetic. She really tried this
time. JD says it’s the not the first time he’s had his
heart broken. Probably won’t be the last. Then he
walks out the door.
