Teaser:
Jordan’s car in shop. Motorville Tires. Woody is
picking her up. Getting into Woody’s car…he’s talking
about everything he did to fix the car up, Jordan is
totally lost--cars are not in her realm of
understanding. A cop puls up behind Woody - Spalding.
Giving him a ticket because he was parked in a red
zone. A car comes speeding by the cop goes after the
car. Woody and Jordan follow. Woody’s car stalls in an
ally. They hear gun shots. Woody tells Jordan to call
it in. Woody goes to scene. He finds a dead body in
the trunk, and around a corner, Spalding is down. He’s
been shot 4 times in the chest. Woody tells him to
breath, stay with him. More cops arrive, and
helicopter…
Act One:
In precinct. Woody talking with Lu, about when the wake
will be and where. Spalding had two kids. The son is
here. Lu can’t get thru to him – Jesse. She wants
Woody to try connecting with him. Woody goes over and
tries to talk to Jesse. Woody asks if mom is around –
Jesse says mom died of cancer. Woody says he was the
last person to speak with dad – seemed like a good man.
Kid responds ‘I guess’. Woody says 'Hey an officer
killed in line of duty is honorable.' and for him to
remember that about his father.
In
Morgue – going over dead body found in trunk. She was
beaten badly somewhere. Then 12-16 hours later was
tossed in the car and dumped.
JD
arrives at morgue. He’s in a sling. They talk. JD
says next time you need a lift ask me. Then Woody comes
barging into her office. Woody wants to know if she’s
autopsy the body. Jordan says haven’t started.
At
precinct. Husband of beaten wife in interrogation
room. Lu is watching in. The guy is distraught. Woody
shows him pictures of the car she was found in, a rented
car. The man (Robert) doesn’t know why wife would rent
car. Husband says he needs to find who did this. Woody
very dry says no worries he will. Lu and Woody talk.
Woody says he did it. Lu says that was fast. How does
he know for sure the husband is guilty? Woody says he
never asked how his wife was killed--that's the first
thing people normally ask.
At
wake. Rene shows up. Rene talking with Woody wants to
know how the case is going. Woody says the husband is
the guilty one. Rene says all he has is
circumstantial evidence. He needs to put the guy in the
car--Woody says he will.
Woody goes on the deck and talk with the son. Jesse
says he has to go live in Baltimore with some relative
he doesn’t even know. Woody tells boy he needs to be
strong for sister. She needs him. Boy gets mad saying
he doesn’t want to go. Then yells at Woody says
what is he doing to prove who killed his father. Woody
says he’s going to get proof. Boy says what if Woody
doesn’t find any? Woody says he will.
At
car in impound lot. Jordan going over car. She says
CSU already went over--they're not going to find
anything. Woody finds something: There’s a cell phone
in almost plain view. It’s the husbands. Jordan says
it doesn’t make sense. It wasn’t there the day before.
Woody’s at guys apartment--has a search warrant. Lu
comes into the morgue and talks with Jordan. Lu asks if
Jordan's found anything. She says there’s sand on
the body--but otherwise no. Lu says this is important
case to him. Lu says she’s his x-shrink--in regards to
a comment Jordan makes. Jordan tells Lu Woody is a good
guy, but she’s seen him change…Jordan says maybe she
shouldn’t be talking….
Jordan starts to tell Lu that she thinks Woody planted
cell, then stops case she doesn’t want to get him in
trouble. Lu says they used to do something in
school…talk in hypotheticals…so Jordan and her talk
‘hypothetically’ and she tells Lu what she thinks.
Act Two:
Woody talking to Robert – husband. Woody says found
black book. Robert with lawyer. Rene there. Client
filed report, that his car was broken into and his cell
phone stole and hence planted. Lawyer shows pictures of
before and after CSU pictures and Jordan's. Walcott has
to let the man go. Rene gets pissed at Wood. She wants
to know what just happened.
Nigel in morgue going over dead body – old man. There’s
a number tattooed to hand.
Bug
and girl/lady come barging thru the morgue. The lady
says it was her husband. She wants the body now--she's
lying. John Henry Smith. They call her out. She says
they were a part of an alien group or something. She’s
paranoid. She needs the body so the aliens can come for
him.
At
Jordan’s place. She’s bandaging JD’s arm. JD ask if
she’s alright. She says her good friend is in trouble.
JD guess that it’s Woody. Jordan thinks JD is pushing
for info. JD says love is like malaria. Never really
goes away, just goes dormant. (Quote:
"Love is like
malaria...once its under your skin its never really gone
it goes dormant sometimes even for years then when you
least expect it, its back")
Woody goes to Jesse. He asks him what he was thinking
planting the evidence. Woody says he knows what kid is
going thru, but kids yells say how? Woody finally yells
his father was killed too in line of duty. He explains
how it happened. He tells Jesse what he learned. That
you don’t fall down, you stand up act like a man and
honor father’s memory.
Rene
is at Woody’s desk. She tells him he doesn’t have to
speak to him with out his rep. She wants to know if he
planted the evidence. She threatens him. Says she’s
investigating him and she’s going to put him away – a
bad cop.
Act Three:
Nigel sticking something up the dead guys nose. Bug
comes in. Nigel is looking for a transmitter. Bug
things he’s nuts. Bug and Nigel debate the topic of
‘alien abduction’. Then Nigel finds something.
Something was planted in the guys head.
JD
comes to see Woody. They talk. JD wants to hear
Woody’s side of the story. Lu walks in right as Woody
gets physical with JD and breaks them up.
Jordan and Bug in lab. It’s silica. Synthetic sand.
Used at golf courses. Woody comes in. Want to know
what he’s doing here. Woody says he appreciates Jordan
helping. Jordan says she wish he hadn’t done it. He
looks shocked that she thinks he did--plant evidence.
Then Woody gets call. Jesse did another stupid thing.
Woody says he has to bail Jesse out of another
problem...it clicks and Jordan realizes Woody's
protecting Jesse. Jesse was hiding in trees at
Robert's house with gun. Woody talks with him. Jesse
says he followed him to a chicks apartment….he was there
till after three am…Woody wants Jesse to bring him to
the house…
In
morgue. Nigel. Bug and Garret talking. Nigel says
thing in guys head found of nothing made here on earth.
Jordan goes to see Lu. She tells Lu that Woody was
covering for someone. She suggests they work together.
Jordan tells her what she knows. Lu shows Jordan an
article – Woody accused of planting evidence:
written by JD Pollack.
At
morgue: JD comes to see Jordan. She shows him article.
She says it’s personal. JD says it’s his work.
Woody talking with girl Robert spent the night with.
Vicky – Woody asks for her help to put him away. Andy
Burnett is the name he goes by, she tells him. Says she
sees him a couple times a month. Says he drives her to
some house – in the TRUNK. She says it smells like
fresh cut grass the place he brings her.
Nigel meets up with crazy alien lady – Natalie. She
insists she needs body. She says dead guys name is Eury.
And that he worked on space ship. She tells him this
story about how he meet up with aliens. Says he’s been
trying to make contact with them. She begs Nigel to
help her.
Nigel goes into morgue to Bug telling him the gals info
checks out. Says he’s giving her the body. Bug says
he’ll get in trouble. Bug tells him Nigel isn’t happy
with normal life. They argue. Nigel insist he’s taking
him.
Lu
and Jordan working on the location of golf course and
houses and where possibly Robert could have killed his
wife. They trace phone records and golf courses and
find where he owned another home.
At
precinct: Rene comes in. She says Jesse is under
arrest--for planting evidence. Someone from impound lot
recognized him.
Act Four:
Nigel taking body. Bug comes in and says he can’t let
him do this. Bug says he's telling Macy. Garret comes
in, explains what’s happened, all is the same as Nigel’s
story from Natalie about the man being a part of the
Russian Space program until the wife part. His wife
left him while he was up at space station--she wasn't
taken by aliens.
Jordan and Woody are at Andy’s/Robert's house. Jordan
and Woody replay the scene. Of how Robert/Andy did it.
On
roof. Nigel is talking with Natalie. Natalie talks
about her husband. He husband left her too. This Alien
abduction support group is just a way to hide things
they don’t want to face…Nigel gets this. Natalie
believes differently. Nigel debates if he should tell
her/try and make her understand. Nigel says instead
what if they don’t come….what if the aliens mean for his
body to stay here with her…
Jordan and Woody with Rene showing her all the
evidence. Rene releases kid. Jordan talks with Woody –
says what he did for Jesse was a real good thing and
she’s proud of him. They have a good conversation,
Jordan leaves and says ‘see you around’ he echoes
words.
Woody and Lu talk. Woody asks about the ring? She says
it’s just decoration, to keep the guys away. Woody says
he gets why she asked him to help with the boy – the boy
being him and his life story. Lu says he did a good
job. Woody says come on I’ll walk you out.
Nigel and Natalie on roof asleep, body still there.
Jordan and JD at her apartment sitting on her bed. JD
typing on lap top, Jordan watches. She doesn't
looked to thrilled….
Next
day: Jesse meets up with Woody. Woody gives Jesse his
dad’s badge. They shake hands and Jesse and his sister
leave with unknown relative. Woody watches them drive
away.
