Brief Synopsis:
When evidence unexpectedly appears at a murder scene Woody has been vigorously
investigating, he is accused of planting it.
Woody:
Everyone—welcome to the new Woody. I sincerely believe
the always cheery, good attitude and somewhat naïve
Woody has grown up and left us for good. And I am very
pleased to bring you this news. He’s in this season
(even when he was being a #1 pain in the backside)
become much more of a three-dimensional character. He’s
not as trusting; a bit more jaded, but still has that
undeniable charm about him.
It was wonderful to see Woody smile and
laugh again. It’s been a long time since he last
laughed.
For those of you who don’t know Woody’s
background—his mother died of cancer and his father was
shot in the line of duty. Just like Jesse’s parents. I
think this case did wonders to help Woody and allowed
Woody to help a young man (still very much a boy) in
desperate need of help and guidance.
Woody
and Jordan:
Was this not a wonderful episode for these two? (and no
I’m not talking about j-w romantically). Their
friendship, it seems, is starting to make its way back
to solid ground. And I missed it so much. Those two
have enough chemistry working together to make even the
most cynical person believe in them. They work so well
together. Jordan and Woody are definitely doing much
better. It seems the small actions are starting to
restore each others faith in the other. The wall they
threw up between them in a moment of anger is starting
to show its cracks, flaws and weaknesses. It was never
meant to stay up and slowly—like any poorly constructed
wall—it’s starting to fall.
It’s great to see this friendship
rebuilding itself, but there’s still tension between
them. Mainly anytime J.D. comes into the picture. And
while I get the impression that Woody really can’t stand
seeing Jordan and J.D. together he’s dealing with it.
He’s not making snide remarks (as least not to Jordan)
any more or purposely causing arguments. You just have
to look at his face to see how hard he’s biting his
tongue—which he should be doing. He has no say in
Jordan and J.D.’s relationship. He gave that up when he
told Jordan to get lost. And I think he still has
doubts about his own feeling and Jordan.
It’s been mentioned that Woody should
apologize to Jordan. I agree that he owes Jordan an
apology for his hospital monologue—telling her to get
lost. That wasn’t the way to handle things—however I
will take into consideration the circumstances at the
time. Oh the heels of Woody’s apology should come some
deep down, pour it all out talking between Jordan and
Woody. Jordan needs to explain why she said what she
said in Woody’s ear (I’m still dying to know the exact
words she murmured). And I think she needs to tell
Woody EXACTLY how and what she feels for him. No
tiptoeing around, no running, no ignoring. She owes
Woody a ‘talk’.
I have to comment on the look on Woody’s
face when he walked in on Jordan and J.D. kissing. Poor
guy—it seems everywhere he goes he’s reminded of J.D.
And normally I’d say that’s no big deal (especially
since Woody and Jordan were never a couple – and
‘almost-something’ as Jordan put it), but the way he
looks when he sees them together makes me think it is a
big deal.
One last comment: Woody is a
gentleman—despite his brief laps earlier in the season.
How can you not call him a gentleman when he holds the
car door open for Jordan?
Jordan
and Pollack:
Can you say trouble in paradise? Man if looks could
kill I wouldn’t have wanted to be J.D. on the bed at the
end of the episode. I swear I thought daggers were
going to come shooting out of her eyes. Okay a bit
dramatic, but she did not look happy. She looked like
she was still pissed off.
J.D. has a way with words. I guess as a
report he should, but his ‘love is like malaria’ comment
makes me laugh every time I think (write or hear) it. I
suppose I owe the writers a big hand for that line. I
shall forever think of love along those terms—or at
lease lost love. J.D., I get the feeling, is a bit
insecure. He feels like he’s fighting a losing battle
with Woody. And the best part is Woody’s not doing
anything. I saw J.D.’s article as a way of venting his
frustration with never quite measuring up to
Woody—though if he tries to keep doing that he’ll lose
Jordan for sure.
His job is really going to get him in big
trouble if he keeps writing the pieces he is. It’s
standing in the way of them. It’s his nature to be
curious to want to know what’s going on—even when he
shouldn’t know. You can’t take that out of a person.
So either Jordan and J.D. are going to have to come to
some agreement and stick to it on those terms or things
are going to keep spiraling downwards between those two.
Jordan
and Lu: Well we got to see Lu react with a member of the
morgue. I like Lu. And after re-watching the episode
for a third time I’ve finally come to the conclusion
that Lu and Woody seem to have an easy flowing
interaction. However when Lu was placed in a situation
outside of the precinct she seemed to become a bit more
reserved. Take a stroll with me. Remember Elaine?
Devan? Those two were in charge from the day they said
hello. Lu on the other hand seemed a bit more
reserved. She and Jordan worked fine together. I also
felt like both Jordan and Lu were walking on egg shells
when they were together. Almost as if they weren’t
quite sure what to think of each other, but both knowing
they wanted to trust each other. It’ll be interesting
to see how this plays out. And how Lu interacts with
the rest of the morgue staff.
You have to agree though…you won’t forget
their first meeting. No with Lu saying she’s Woody’s
ex-shrink and Jordan responding she’s Woody’s
ex-something…or ex-almost something. That’s a way to
break the ice!
Actually for two very private people it
was almost as if it was a revealing of souls. From what
little we know of Lu she’s seems very private. She
wears a ring to hide. That is what she’s doing. Though
I wonder what she’s hiding from. I mean to wear a ring
and not be married isn’t something I think you’d do
lightly. Jordan we already know doesn’t open up too
well and usually goes running when she can’t handle
something.
And I didn’t get any jealous vibes
between those two. Unlike with Woody and J.D. I’m
interested to see where this heads. I think those two
could get along quite well. And right now they have a
common thing connecting them: Woody. What road will
that lead them down?
On a side note: What’s up with the dead
wife talking/calling her mom multiple times that
night??? And if that were the case, don’t you think
she’d have mentioned to mommy dearest that she thought
her husband was a two-timing cheating bastard and she
was following him? I mean if she’s talking with mom
that often, she gotta be close…one of those people who
shares every moment with her mother. Okay my rant is
over.
Lu:
Lu’s a smart girl. I’ve come to this conclusion. I
think though she prefers to stay in the background.
She’s found ways to get through to Woody. I interested
to see her grow now.
On the topic of the ring: I found
it funny when a while back we were discussing the ring
none of mentioned it just a 'mechanism to ward of
unwanted attention'—i.e. decoration. It never really
crossed our minds. And now that she's said why she wears
it, none of us believe that's the full story.
Lu and
Woody: Seems like they’re getting along pretty well. And
Woody was a gentleman yet again to Lu—offering to walk
her to her car. Though the chat at the end seemed to be
a ‘friendly’ chat I can’t help but wonder what’s going
to go on between those two. I hope nothing. I really
do, but I don’t know if my wish will come true.
Woody
and Pollack:
Did J.D. not deliberately set Woody off at the
precinct? Those two have definite alpha male issues.
Woody’s trying to get his head back on straight and get
onto solid footing with Jordan again and J.D. is
fighting some big time doubt demons.
“So
what I’m suppose to leave you alone cause you used to
sleep with my girlfriend?”
I bet Woody was thinking ‘I wish’. I
wonder if those two will get a chance to duke it out. I
think it’d be a fairly even match. And we add a little
incentive: Winner gets Jordan (as his prize). Sorry had
to add that couldn’t resist.
Nigel
and Bug: Now I might be the only one, but Nigel and Bug’s case
left me feeling cold. I didn’t enjoy it. I’ve been
trying to figure out why and I can’t seem to name any
one thing. I love science fiction and the belief in the
supernatural…so I had no problem with the concept of
‘trying’ to believe the case, but I really didn’t like
it.
Bug and Nigel arguing? Though if you
think about it this case did bring out both their
OPPOSITE beliefs. Nigel’s willing to believe, Bug can’t
even consider the possibility. So that could bring the
tensions out. I just didn’t like it. About the only
part I cared for was at the end, when Nigel goes with
Natalie to the roof. He knows the truth (another let
down for him) but he goes anyway and is there for
Natalie, without completely crushing her view (as
crippling a view as it might be). He even offers her
another solution to explain why the ‘aliens’ might not
come and ‘their’ wishes.
Garret:
Where’s Garret? He wasn’t around much. I feel like
he’s been missing. Yes he’s there, but only
physically. He seems to be so separated from the rest
of the morgue. Also when are we going to have Jordan
and Garret working a case together again? There’s been
precious little of Jordan and Garret working together so
far.
Four out of five dead bodies. Woody’s case was great.
Another emotional step forward for him, and for him and
Jordan. It’s nice to see them back as friends.
