Random Facts:

- This episode's development title was
"Fire & Rain".
- Devan Maguire (Jennifer Finnigan’s
character) dies in this episode.
- Devan is speaking in French in the
beginning. She says:
Arrête de m'appeler. Non, je veux pas parler, je m'en
vais. Laisse moi en paix. (Translation: Stop
calling me. No I don’t want to talk. I’m leaving.
Leave me alone.)
- It has been debated
whether Devan really died in this episode. The
Answer: Yes, she's dead. Allan was kind enough to
explain the thought process and reasoning behind her
death and the reason she's speaking French in the
beginning of the episode.
"This
line of dialogue was put there in French to let you know
that Devan had a non-American boyfriend. It was going to
be a clue to a follow-up episode where in we find out
that the boyfriend is an international arms dealer. They
had just broken up & he had lied to her about his past.
Which explains her anger she wanted to be done with him
once & for all. We toyed with this plot as a way of
making Devan go off into witness protection after she
gives info on the boyfriend, We would find out
afterwards that Devan never got on the flight, she went
off with the CIA, by happenstance the plane crashes &
the FBI agent in the episode plants her phone in the
rubble. We even went so far as to shoot that scene of
the phone, to be used as a flashback.
Well...it was ultimately decided that Devan was better
off dead (to us) So this story idea morphed into the
episode A Stranger Among Us. Just substitute
Devan for the woman who goes to our people for help &
make it about arms not drugs. We thought her
reappearance in Jordan's office at night would be a big
wow, BUT... to what end, Jennifer was busy with her
series & the writers could never lick the story.
"Stranger " is not a very good episode full of plot
holes, this sometimes happens when you are doing about
40 or 50 stories a season, (usually 2 per episode
sometimes 3)."

Quotes:
Bug: How weird is this. Coming to
a crash site before the crash.
Sidney: You know she always called me new guy.
Just to mess with me cause she always thought she was so
funny.
(Jordan opening desk)
Sydney: Isn’t that Devan’s desk? Should you be
doing that?
Jordan: Report me.
Garret: Woody’s out there searching for the kid.
Jordan: Yeah I know he sounds possessed.
Devan’s mother: That sounds just like her. Always
sticking her nose where it didn’t belong.
Kyle: Why are you crying?
Woody: I lost someone on the plane too.
Kyle: And they died?
Woody nods head.
(Devan
calling Jordan from DC)
Devan: I need a favor.
Jordan: Are you bleeding?
Devan: What?
Jordan: Maimed in some way?
Devan: No.
Jordan: Then forget it, I’m asleep
Bug: Plane crash.
Jordan: What? Where?
Bug: We don’t know…hasn’t happened yet.
Jordan: What’s that suppose to mean?
NTSB Guy: Their dead Macy, they can wait. You’ll
be lucky to find some teeth.
Garret: Teeth will do. I’ve made ID’s on less.
(Woody walks into the morgue in the middle of the
night)
Woody: Hey, what are you guys doin’ here?
Jordan: Boy, I could ask the same to you.
Woody: Uh, Devan likes the Mushu from Yang Chows
Jordan: Oh does she now.
(Jordan’s trying to pick the lock on Devan’s desk)
Sydney: Isn’t that Devan’s desk? Should you be
doin’ that?
Jordan: Report me!
(Bug walking into the temporary morgue at the site of
the crash)
Bug: What happened to you getting 10 minutes of
shuteye?
Nigel: Ah, you know…idle minds…
Jordan (over the speaker): …are a terrible thing
to waste.
Bug (talking to the camera): No keeping you away
is there…Madam Oz.
(At the site of the crash)
Garret (reading a poem): As I stand on a mountain
top as the great bird approaches, she is small on my
sight but grows larger on approach until I am blessed
with the full sight of her graceful wings, proud
countenance, and good company. All too quickly she grows
small again on the horizon and disappears from view, and
I call out…”there, she’s gone.” But there are other
mountain tops beyond me. And at the precise moment when
I note the great bird’s departure from my view, I know
there are new eyes taking up the sight of her, and fresh
voices calling out…”here she comes.”
