Teaser:
We start with a bunch of scenes with the riot, people
running, our favorite characters being knocked to the
ground, being held up at gun point, etc. Then we
are taken back to earlier that day when it all began.
Jordan and Woody are arriving at a crime scene and Woody
is telling Jordan about a reality show he watches.
Jordan is not really into Reality TV...she says she has
enough reality in her line of work.
Lu is the detective
on the case already and she fills Jordan and Woody in on
the crime scene. There were two people gunned down
by police officers. Jordan goes to check out the
first victim and Woody and Lu are left standing next to
each other. Woody mentions to Lu that since they
are gonna be working together it would be nice if they
could at least say hello or good-bye. Lu wants
nothing to do with it, basically says there will be no
hellos, no good-byes and as little as possible in
between.
Lu then takes Jordan
and Woody to the second body. It is an eight year
old boy. Lu explains to them that he drew his
weapon on the cops and that is why they gunned him down.
Jordan goes in to take a closer look and is shocked how
many times he is shot. Lu suggests to Jordan that
they cover the body because it is not good for all the
onlookers to see. She fears that and incident like
this is not going to sit well. Jordan responds
with a smart ass comment saying that four cops unloading
at an eight year old would make anyone mad.
Act One:
Woody is interviewing one of the four police officers on
scene when the shootings occurred. He tells Woody
that the first suspect was firing at the other officers
and that is why they shot back at him. Then he
said he noticed someone else was still in the car.
Woody sees that the officer is pretty shaken up and
tells him to relax and just take it slow and walk him
through it. The officer continues to tell him that
him and three other officers approached the car and
informed the person inside to step out with their hands
up. The door opened, and they did not realize it
was a kid. They just saw his hand with a gun in
it. Woody asked him who fired first, and the
officer hesitated saying it all happened so fast.
Woody asked again, and the officer said the boy fired
first.
Jordan is examining
the boy when Lu comes over to see how things are going.
Jordan informs her the boy is probably the son of the
other victim, and he has been shot over 30 times.
Lu points out it was contagious fire...once the shooting
starts, no one knows when to stop.
Back at the Morgue
the gang is getting ready for Jordan to get there with
the bodies. Garret reminds them how this case is
high profile and they need to work fast. He
assigns Bug and Jordan to the boy, and Kate and Nigel to
the father. Nigel and Kate both agree
sarcastically that they should be able to work together
on the case amicably. Kate orders Nigel to prep
for trace while she goes to her office.
At the police station
officer Greco is waiting in the hallway when Woody
passes by and asks how he is doing. Sitting across
from him is Mrs. Caullings, the mother of the boy who
was shot and killed. Woody tells the officer that
the next few weeks will be the worst in his life.
Officer looks at the mother, who is sitting alone
crying. Woody assures him he did the right thing
in shooting the boy, because he was protecting the other
officers at the scene. Lu then calls in the mother
to talk. Mrs. Caullings was telling Lu about the
events of the morning before Jammar left for school.
Lu then asks her if she owned a hand gun. Mrs.
Caullings is shocked at the questions and answers with a
no. She does not understand why Lu is asking her
this, but it is because no one told her that her son was
shot down by police officers.
Back in the morgue breakroom the guys are watching Jammar's aunt on the
television screaming and sobbing about the shooting.
There is also news of protest starting around the city.
Bug starts getting nervous and informs Garret that the
city is about to burst. Garret then gets a call
from the Governors office informing him of some
information about autopsy results. Garret is
caught off guard because he was unaware that an autopsy
was already completed. At that moment Kate walks
by and gets an earful from Garret. He is pissed
she talked to the Governors office before talking to
him. Kate does not see what the big deal is.
Jordan and Bug are in
autopsy running the bullets from the crime scene.
They determine that the bullets found in the wall near
where the officers were came from the same gun found in
Jammar's hand. Jordan does not understand how
Jammar got that gun because his mom did not have a gun,
and she can not see his father just giving him a gun.
Garret comes in to check on things, and informs Jordan
they need to be done by 5pm, and a court hearing at 6pm.
Jordan argues that she wants to take the time to do it
right, but Garret says his hands are tied.
Outside the courtroom
there is a crowd of people gathered with signs about
"Justice" and "Peace". It is just a matter of time
before the riot begins. Inside the courtroom the
case is being brought up in front of the judge.
The ME's office indicates from the evidence at the
scene, the police officers followed proper protocol
because the boy fired the gun at the officers.
This ignites the city to erupt in rage. Back
outside the courtroom the gang tries to get out of there
as quickly as possible. The streets are full of
people fighting, cars on fire, etc. Nigel grabs
Kate and they get out of there. Lu and Jordan head
down the stars and Jordan is knocked over by some people
fighting, and Lu tries to get to her. Lu and
Jordan are both on the ground, coughing from all the
smoke.
Act Two:
At the police precinct officers are putting on vests,
grabbing guns, and getting face guards. The
Lieutenant is giving orders about having uniformed
police presents in the streets. Woody then enters,
in uniform. He notices officer Greco sitting
across the room and offers to give him a ride home.
Nigel and Kate are in
Kate's car trying to find a way back to the morgue.
The are then stopped by a man with a gun. He yells
at them to get out of the car. Nigel quickly
responds by getting out of the car with his hands up.
Kate, however is still sitting in the passenger seat.
The man with the gun is in the drivers seat with the gun
to Kate's head. Nigel rushes over and pulls Kate
out of the car. The man drives off in Kate's car.
Kate yells at Nigel and blames him for getting her car
stolen. Nigel can not believe she is so ungrateful
because he just saved her life. Their yelling at
each other is short lived because before they know it
they are being shot at. They run down the street
for cover.
Back at the morgue
Jordan is arguing with Lu about the police pressure in
the streets. Lu explains that it is all about
crowd control, and that those officers are out there
risking their lives for the city. Jordan knows
this, and she is just upset about the situation and
taking it out on Lu. Jordan notices Mrs. Caullings
in the crypt with Jammar. Jordan goes in and tells
her how sorry she is for her loss. Mrs. Caullings
asked Jordan if she really believes what she said at the
hearing. Jordan assures her that the evidence
points to Jammar shooting the gun. Mrs. Caullings
tells Jordan that she is wrong.
Garret is in the hall
informing everyone that the Governor has issued a dusk
'till dawn curfew, so no one is allowed to leave until
morning. Lu also points out that because it is a
government building it will be protected by the police.
Bug is nervous about being put in lock down and
expresses his concern to Garret. Garret asks Bug
if he is ok because it is unlike him to lose his cool in
situations like this.
Back in the streets
of Boston, Woody and Officer Greco come across a woman
in the streets waiving her harms for help. There
is a man trapped in a car and Woody goes and helps him
get out. Officer Greco tells Woody that medical
vehicles are not allowed in the "red zone", so they are
going to have to find another solution. There is a
kid that also comes to them who has a hurt arm.
Woody knows that these people need doctors he knows just
the people.
Back at the morgue,
Jordan is in autopsy checking out Jammar's body again.
She notices some bruising on his right index finger and
starts investigating it. She shoes her results to
Lu and explains to her that his trigger finger is
bruised and that there is no way it could have happened
if he just fired the gun on his own. It would
bruise if someone wrapped their finger around Jammar's
finger and pulled the trigger post mortem. Jordan
also shows Lu that there are small specks of black paint
on Jammar's hand. The gun that Jammar had had a
wooden handle and no black paint. Lu explains to
Jordan that she arrived at the scene moments after the
shooting started and there was nothing there that
matched that description. Jordan decides that it
still must be there if it was not collected by the
police or CSU.
We now see Kate and
Nigel taking cover in a convenient store as we hear
sirens and gun shots outside. Nigel suggests they
stay there until things calm down, but Kate says that
could take a week. She thinks they should keep
going until they get back to the morgue. They
again hear gunfire and Nigel tells her it is way too
dangerous out there and it is too far to try and make it
back. Kate starts yelling at Nigel again about him
getting her car stolen. Nigel fires right back at
her and sarcastically says that he had it planned all
along. Kate tells Nigel that he is buying her a
new car. Nigel then notices that Kate is bleeding.
In the hallway of the
Morgue Jordan is getting ready to go back to the crime
scene and gather the evidence they need and Lu is trying
to talk her out of it saying it is way too dangerous.
At the elevator Woody comes in with a bunch of wounded
people. Jordan calls for help over the intercom
and Garret and Bug come running. While Jordan,
Bug, and Garret start tending to the wounded Lu gets
into the elevator to go to the crime scene. Woody
thinks it is too dangerous, but Lu insists on
going....so Woody goes with her.
Act Three:
In the morgue there are injured people everywhere.
Jordan is tending to a Japanese woman, with her
grand-daughter close by telling her what happened.
Garret is tending to the man Woody helped out of the
car. He has a pretty bad gash on his head.
Bug is working on a man who has been shot in the leg.
His bed side manor is not the best being that he was not
too genital with the guy.
Back at the
convenient store Kate and Nigel are still hiding out.
Kate tells Nigel she needs to eat something. He
offers her cupcakes or snowballs, but Kate tells him she
does not do well with processed sugar. While Nigel
is cleaning up Kate's arm they talk about why Kate is so
"mean" to others. She basically says that she
never saw the point of lying or being fake. Kate
again tells Nigel she needs to eat something or she is
going to pass out, so he gets up and gives her a
cupcake. Kate warns Nigel that the sugar brings
out her anger...that she has rage issues.
Bug is still working
on the man who was shot in the leg. The man is
explaining to him what happened...that there was a car
crash and there was a man in the car that he went to try
and help. The next think he knows he is being shot
at. Bug proceeds to pull the bullet out of the
mans leg, and the man screams that he needs another
doctor. Garret walks in and checks to see if
everything is ok. He takes Bug aside and talks to
him. Bug assures him that he is fine.
At the crime scene
Woody and Lu are digging through things trying to find
the missing piece of evidence. There are cars on
fire and people driving around. Lu is still a bit
touchy with Woody, but tries to lighten the mood by just
talking to her about the case. Woody tells Lu to
just walk him through what happened that morning.
While going through everything they end up finding what
they were looking for. It was a model airplane
shaped like a gun. It is painted with black paint.
They start to envision what really happened that
morning. That the four police officers on the
scene thought the boy was holding a gun when it
was just a model airplane. They opened fire on the
boy without even knowing. They then took one of
their own ankle guns and set up everything making it
look like Jammar had a gun and that he fired at the
police.
At the morgue the
wounded are still being tended to. Jordan is
checking with Officer Greco to see how things were
going. Jordan tells him that people don't like
being lied to. She seems to feel that he is
holding something back because he was one of the four
officers on the scene and she knows something is just
not quite right. She then gets a call from Woody
who says he's been trying to get through for 10 minutes.
She then hears gunfire in the background. Woody
tells her that they found something and they are coming
back to the morgue. There is a quick flash to
Woody and Lu and a gasoline filled glass bottle being
thrown at their car. Woody yells and Jordan hears
more gun shots being fired. The phone goes dead.
Act Four:
Jordan rushes out and jumps into a morgue van to go and
find Woody and Lu.
Inside the morgue Bug
is finishing up with the man who got shot in the leg,
and Garret is finishing up with the man from the car
accident. The man with the gunshot wound starts
screaming at the other man, saying he is the one who
shot him. The other man said that he threw a brick
at his car and that is why he shot at him. Officer
Greco comes in to try and help break things up.
Walking close by is the grand-daughter bringing her
grandma some water. In the process of the fight,
the girl gets knocked down and knocks over an autopsy
tray in the process. Everyone stops and Garret and
Bug check to see if she is ok. She has landed on a
scalpel and they think it punctured her lung. They
prepare for surgery.
Back at the convent
store, Nigel is talking about the cupcake and how it is
amazing that a mixture of certain ingredients can make
actual food. Kate is annoyed and gets up to leave.
Nigel tells her that in a few hours it will be morning
and everything will me much safer. Kate is not
wanting to wait, and she starts yelling at Nigel again
to stop talking. She turns around to leave and
there is a man there with a baseball bat and he
threatens her to give him her purse. She says no.
He yells at her to give it to him again, and Nigel tries
to convince her to hand it over, but Kate is not
budging. She has an explosive scene when she yells
at the looter and in the process gets his bat. She
threatens him and says that she is going to rip out his
kidneys and feed them to her dog. He eventually
leaves. Nigel is in the background not really
believing what he is seeing. Kate is ready to go
and she asks Nigel if he is coming...he does.
Garret and Bug are
doing surgery on the girl and after they get her
stabilized Bug finally tells Garret why he has been
upset all evening. It turns out his father had a
shop in Liverpool when some riots broke out there.
It turns out his fathers shop was burned to the ground.
It nearly broke him.
Jordan is at the
crime scene and starts screaming for Woody. He
calls back to her and Jordan sees them. Lu has
been shot in the abdomen and is bleeding. Jordan
tells Woody there is a gurney in the van, and Woody runs
to get it. Jordan stays with Lu and applies
pressure to the wound. Jordan tries to talk to Lu
to keep her talking. Woody and Jordan get her in
the van. Woody talks to Lu about how the scar is
going to look good one her, and that he has a gunshot
scar too. Lu reminds him that she has seen it.
Woody tells her she is going to be fine. Jordan
comes in with the first aid kit, and takes a look at
Lu's wound. Lu is trying so hard not to scream and
cry, but she does cry out about how much it really
hurts. The look in Jordan's eyes says it all and
she tells Woody to get in the front and drive fast to
the hospital.
Act Five:
Nigel and Kate are in the morgue elevator and Kate is
still holding the bat. Nigel jokes about the
processed sugar and how that made her angry enough for
her rant. Also about what she said about feeding
his kidneys to her dog...like she'd have a dog.
Turns out Kate has a show dog, and it is known for its
luxuriant coat. It turns out human kidneys has a
lot of folic acid and that causes a shine to the hair.
Nigel tells Kate she scares him. Kate tells Nigel
he is buying her a new car.
In the back of the
morgue van Jordan is still with Lu. Lu is in
obvious pain and Jordan is doing what she can. Lu
asks Jordan if she has the model airplane, and Jordan
assures her she has it, and everything will be ok.
Lu tells Jordan that she's not gonna make it...that she
has seen cops die before. Jordan tells her to stay
positive. Besides, they both have a lot of stuff
they need to talk about. Jordan brings up the fact
that she arrested her, and also about her and Woody
dating. Lu says she is sorry, but Jordan just
wants her to argue with her. Lu then changes from
being scared and panicky to calm. She says to
Jordan that she is tired and calm, but Jordan says there
is nothing to feel calm about. Lu tells Jordan to
come closer so she can whisper something into her ear.
After that Lu's eyes start to close and Jordan
frantically tries to get Lu to stay awake by slapping
her and shouting at her. Jordan does CPR and keeps
talking to Lu through her tears. Finally Jordan
stops, realizing there is nothing more she can do.
She tells Lu she is sorry, and lays next to her crying.
A single tear rolls down Lu's cheek. The van stops
and Woody rushes to the back. He opens the door
and sees Lu lying there with Jordan with her head down
sobbing. He can not believe it. Jordan tells
him that Lu wanted her to tell him that she was sorry
she did not say good-bye. Woody's eyes fill with
tears and shock. He can not believe she is gone.
Back at the morgue
Jordan and Woody wheel Lu into the crypt. The rest
of the gang is there and they all stand around Lu in
silence. Officer Greco is sitting in the hallway,
and Jordan comes up to him and shows him the model
airplane...without saying anything. Officer Greco
says they didn't know...that they thought the boy had a
gun. He says to Jordan that he is sorry. She
tells him not to apologize to her, but to tell it to
Jammar's nothing...to all of Boston.
Woody is sitting in
Jordan's office on her couch. Jordan comes in and
sits next to him. Woody tells Jordan how him and
Lu met. How she took his parking space at the
police station. They talk a little about it, and
the Woody tells Jordan the part that hurts the most.
That him and Lu were so close to becoming friends.
With a tear running down his cheek, Woody puts his head
on Jordan's shoulder. Jordan leans in and puts her
head on his and they sit there in sorrow.
